Should note the 3 years includes years already on the contract. So tacking on 2 years is the most you could do in an extend and trade.
That might still be an option. A little more AAV but with the cap growing and more restrictions for second tier tax teams.. they could get a decent 6th man type of player for the next 3 years including this up coming season.

LA is looking for a "starter". Could get #17 back for Trent I bet.

They could trade him draft night on just his 1 year deal he just opted into to. Would be kind of scummy, but maybe the FO has to get a bit more ruthless.
I don't see how it is scummy.

If they got Gary to opt in on promise of a extension and traded him on draft night it wouldn't be the best look. I'm for the FO being aggressive, but I know agents hold a lot of power now in FA

Ah, sure, but I seriously doubt that was the case. Or they'd already have the extension leaked.

          • Sweet! Makes it relatively easy to improve upon our guard play from last year, and manageable if Fred leaves.

I think I'm looking at it more like what is the expectation from Gary? He provided pretty much the same productivity last season as he did the one prior. If we are hoping for something dramatically different, such as a Tyler Herro or CJ Mcollum type of impact, we're going to need to give him a Butler or Zion/Dame type of guy to play off of. Otherwise we'll get about the same type of productivity from him.
Hes young and eager and i think new coach will be a big boost for him with development. I doubt there was any with nurse. He said he didnt even know nurse had a problem with his defence until it was in the media

Consummate Pro….didn’t complaint at all when he was demoted by NN.

I am excited to see him Scottie and OG having a full season of chemistry.

                  I hope lol

Yeah and who knows what sort of discussions have taken place between Gary's camp and Raps management. Maybe they guaranteed him a starting role or maybe he's committed to coming off the bench. Either way he had to be confident in his decision to return.

I highly highly highly highly doubt we guaranteed him a starting role.

I think we said if you like it here we will extend you around the same AAV you're at now and his agent welcomed that since he wasn't getting those $20+M offers he thought he would get.

lowe agrees with many on this board that pascal almost has to go considering how much he's going to be paid and where we are as a franchise (around the 1:09 mark)

                          • gary fucked up everything by picking up his option. we need flexibility and there are about 5 players that need to be moved. 500 team remeber that we can do this easily under the cap with the right moves

Unless Pascal qualifies for the super max, his raises won’t even keep up with the cap rising.

What are the odds Pascal signs a regular max this offseason?

If he won't, his max deal is 10% more next offseason even without a supermax.

If he signs this offseason then I'm OK with it, because we retained him in a way we can deal him if needed. He can be dealt at the deadline and he'll have more value than now due to having multiple years.

If he won't, deal him. This loyalty thing is supposed to be a 2 way street. No one could say we did him dirty by giving him back to back max deals. It would just be pure greed on his part, and greed that hurts the team financially.
