  • GTJ is 22 yr old rental basically...no question he is a long term keeper

Hindsight is 20/20 But signing the past offseason two flawed players just to tank to get a lottery pick because they are needing help for the next season’s uncertainty is so screwed up

    • Well this hype train peaked fast. It's a long road ahead, GTJ is young, some bumps are coming. Please remember this in the future before posting GTJ for Player X trade proposals.

No doubt he is the future but deflating to read posts that he can be the go to guy going forward because the two supposed to be no.1 and no.2 option cannot do it, yet they got paid for their past achievements and down the road potential.

I bet my left nut, the expectation of this potential lottery pick is much higher or Masai is just so stupid he didn’t have the crystal ball to select the BPA, what was the point of tanking then (sarcasm).

Because some are still sitting on the fence about Siakam and Van Vleet...both still have the immunity cloak

        • Well well, we might have a big shot taker and maker now. This is really starting to look like a great trade, lets hope he keeps it up....next season. Dont need him pumping up his contract and ruining the tank.

How is he a rental and a long term keeper at the same time? Your ability to contradict yourself is impressive if nothing else lol

Do you know what rental means?

I understand we have his bird rights but it does not mean that he would jump up and down that he and his agent are both willing to accept the Raptors offer even though I have no doubt from Masai/ Bobby POV he is a long term keeper. Thus he is still a rental.

Nah he's just RFA. Masai and Bobby can match whatever offer he can get.

Yes 15m of course but if An offer from other teams of 20 million per year comparable to what Van Vleet had gotten, will they bite?

                        Siakam - 33
                        Van Vleet - 19.6
                        OG - 16
                        GTJ - 19

Why not? Cap hit will not be same since he's RFA

We are capped out if we sign him. Another factor is the Lowry situation.

15 million per is reasonable but 20 million, steep.

they have to address the Center position via free agency after if they intend to retain the core.

Unless both Siakam or Van Vleet are moved

Even if they give him $20M.. his cap hold is only $4.7M. Sign that center before we re-sign Trent Jr.

To answer your question, yes, if he gets offered 20M they match that.
