even if we somehow fall out of the play-in tourney by losing two games it would be based on record. Again we would have to purposefully lose to keep our pick..

By all accounts, it is a weak draft which means that outside of the top picks we could see ours desired guy slip to us. We also have a high enough 2nd round pick that could be combined with another asset to move up if necessary but our pick is likely gone. Short of everyone going down for a prolonged period of time we aren't tanking.
Raptors could get to the play-in, lose twice, and they are in the lottery getting their pick. And it wouldn't be purposeful either. They could just have two bad nights. Lose to the fully healthy Nets in game 1. And a tough loss to say Atlanta who can get hot (I mean they kicked our asses just a night ago). And then we are in the lottery, likely picking 14th.

Exactly. I don't want that to happen, and neither does the team, but it's a totally plausible scenario, especially if they're missing 1 or 2 starters for whatever reason. We don't have the "next-man-up" cushion that comes from depth this year, unfortunately. If knock-on-wood you got 2 key starters out for 3 to 4 weeks on the eve of the playoffs, we're likely not making out of the play-in, and if we somehow do, it's likely to win just 1 or 2 first round games. Is that better than a 14th overall pick by a FO that scouts as well as we do, while the team needs future depth? Maybe, maybe not, but ultimately even if not overtly, is something they'll sure consider (if knock-on-wood they're banged up longer term at that time)

It's not gonna happen though, the guys we'll be all back full force, and this team full force can beat anyone in the East (aside for maybe a fully healthy Nets), so they should and will make a push for it.

I think on a given night they can beat Miami and Chicago, oddly enough the top 2 teams in the East.

They aren't beating the Bucks or a healthy Nets team unless absolutely everything clicks, gotta be honest. Sixers, Embiid is going to destroy teams and if Simmons works out ....
And Boston still scares me, just history. Beatable, could beat us

guess we didn't have to worry about losing to the nets

He had a pretty bad year.. so this will hopefully help him. Not sure what it does to his trade value, if he had any.

Also likely means he won't be joining Team Canada this summer.

I don't think his trade value goes lower.

in terms of team Canada it opens up more time for us to see what zach edey has

Elite towel-waiver at the very least, able to keep up on D for the third unit, educate and support the young bigs a la Haslem and Nick Collison. Will be interesting to see if he's added some offseason range. Unselfish. Still a 6'9 that plays 7 feet.
