Also.....can anybody who is complaining that aren't using the cap room we planned for this year let me know who they wanted to sign? It's not the Raps fault that other players signed extensions. Lowry was the best free agent available. Did you want to sign him for 3x30? I'm not sure Holmes is the answer to this question.

If the S&T is for Dragic, Precious, and a 2nd, we basically just helped out Miami. If it's a 1st round pick coming back, then it's worth taking on Dragic. We handcuffed ourselves from adding talent that would fit with our timeline and core with this trade, and should be compensated properly.

Any return on a sign and trade is pretty good - this is more than what we got for Bosh. Masai and co probably weren't too keen on this free agent crop, or knew they could do enough damage with the MLE. That said, there's still time to find another home for Dragic.

Anyway it’s only a day maybe another move in pending.

My thoughts on the sign and trade:
If its a first that is SOLID. If its more than a 2nd (two seconds) ... still pretty happy because you can use those seconds in deals later on or to move up if necessary especially if the seconds are later on in the life of Jimmy's deal. A second in 2027 is not necessarily a bad second. Getting Precious is also solid. VERY solid. I am happy with it. I am not jumping for joy but he didn't walk for nothing to Dallas. Which we kind of knew because he wanted to get paid and go to a good situation. I think Kyle also won't back down from the money so it is really still on miami to figure it out. Worst case we have Dragic. I think thats fine. He is playing well and we can always flip him later. It also maintains our capspace in some sort of way moving forward for next year. Not that we would have big capspace.
I am happy with the return and Dragic can net us something because of how much his salary is.
I am content with Markkenen, I want Turner.
Dragic and Boucer is better than Boucher and Bayens as a trade platter.

To me it's not worth helping Miami get better. We actually had leverage in this deal.... so no, it's not pretty good.
If we end up having to keep Dragic, and we use our MLE on someone like Birch and call it a day, it will be a bad look on the franchise. But if they are able to flip Dragic for someone that fits our teams needs both in the short term and long term, then it will work itself out.
For now there have been no trades made other than sign and trades. Guys like Kawhi, DeMar, Collins and Markkanen are still free agents. Simmons is still a 6er. Some patience can be a good thing. Portland still has to make Lillard happy (and bringing back Norm won't be enough).
Atlanta was patient last off season and got Bogdanovic at the end of it.
Overall this off season has been pretty boring.. not just for Raptor fans, but for most fans I imagine.

I've been one of the more pessimistic guys in this forum lately but I think we have to let the off season play out a bit before we determine if the trade was a bad one.
