Okay so that's the deal.. Powell and WCS for Dragic. Dallas is trying to use their TPE to replace one of those guys with someone else otherwise they lose a big chunk of their big man depth. If they can't then we'll have to find a different team for Dragic.

They should of done that when the FA started, what the F%$$ were they thinking 15 million now gonna sit there..maybe thats Masai money, gotta sign him some how, maybe he can play Center..lol..oh yeah did everyone forget his a FA and has not signed and is making all the decisions, I mean my God, this is beyond insane. Never seen this at any sports franchise.
What's beyond insane is how angry you are getting about something you do not understand enough to be even mildly angry about it.

I've been saying for some time that the reason the SnT details haven't come out yet is likely because Miami agreed to send extra assets if Toronto couldn't dump Dragic for cap room and had to keep him. I imagine both front offices are working the lines trying to get a Dragic landing spot lined up, so Toronto can't just drag their feet. Heck, if they wanted the assets the deal would probably be done, but they want the cap room by moving Dragic, hence trying that first.
As for what extra would be included, I'm pretty sure Okpala or another small salary is going to be included regardless to get Lowry his 90M. The question is the number and quality of picks.

What in the heck are you on about? The Raptors don't have a lick of cap room until they finish the Lowry SnT, no matter who they waive.

Not Angry, just frustrating.

We don't need time to see that you are railing at transaction timings that are irrelevant to the things you could legitimately have concerns about.

never had a problem with jimmy, and bam is cool. Its actually hard to hate these guys, I have enough hate for Boston and Brooklyn to make up for it.
Pretty sure it was you who was in the “if they ain’t with us, they’re against us†camp. Lowry ain’t with us anymore. Gotta move on and let the hate flow through you.

Ok so just to round up, these are the routes this SnT can take based on the rumours:
1. Dragic reroutes to Mavs for Dwight Powell and Willie Stein
2. Dragic reroutes into another team's cap space, freeing up space here to pursue a RFA, the one making most sense being Markkenen (since Bulls just got Derozan and probably won't be able to match his offers)
3. We keep Dragic, Heat sends Okpala, and we try to flip Dragic again throughout the season
EDIT (more in my imagination as a possibility than an actual rumour):
4. We package away all/some of this fruit salad we're getting for Lowry, add some stuff from us (eg Boucher/Pick), and go for Turner or some other higher end asset.
Messy, but I guess all options are reasonable. If it's really down to these 4 avenues we'll end up with 2 or 3 good players/prospects regardless, which is nice. Explains the waiving of Bembry and Watson today.
My preference would actually be route #2, IF we knew we would for sure get Markkenen. We already have a strong defence, and getting a stretch big shooting 40% and giving us 14 & 6 would balance things out and be good for us. Powell and Stein are alright too, but they're already 30 & 27 (neither of them "old", but further from our newly forming core)
Route #3 is alright too, but would require hanging on to Dragic and give him minutes (so he would actually have value at the trade deadline) which means taking away potential PG minutes from Scottie (the position in which he'd most impactful imo)Last edited by inthepaint; Tue Aug 3, 2021, 10:42 PM.

Time will tell whether the off-season goes well.

Beyond the Bulls giving up Thad Young who is a useful player but an expiring and not a player the bulls want to keep because they want to have help facilitating a deal that allows them to grab Demar, they need to compensate the other team for that help. So the additional pieces were a future first-round pick and two second-round picks.
So since our deal with lowry who is a big part of the heats "big 3" moving forward, Dragic is the salary (but that ruins our cap space and the heat know this) expring.
So to me that lets me know that HEY if we absolutely ruin our free agency helping out kyle and HELPING YOU out.. then you have to do a quid pro quo and help us out. it really is in both teams best interest to make it work. The Heat more so than the raptors. Because if the raptors really wanted to be jerks they could say... ok void the deal. They won't do that because that's just bad for business but they could. The heat know this too which would ruin alot of things. Especially since they can't reneg on robinsons deal and have already negotiated with lowry to join for a specified number so how they make it work out is completely on them. They could have agreed to a deal and then said we will hold off on announcing the deal .. let us just make the cap space. The heat could have renounced dragic too and signed kyle outright for close to 25 but I knew that they wanted to retain some sort of cap flexibility to build out their team.
What is interesting is there are still obvious pieces on the board. John Collins is one example. My guess is yes Dallas is the one team but Dallas doesn't have to play ball here ... they will to keep luka happy but they wont want to lose two centers in one day. We won't have to take back Porzingis. We may have to end up taking on dragic for a bit for the pain but we will get additional assets which is perfect. Precious will likely stay but I can't confirm.. What it tells me is Boucher may be out the door and if collins stays unsigned... he may be our dominoe. Or Like I keep suggesting Turner.

If we clear up cap room, I could see us giving a shot to Oladipo. Might fill our need for a shot creator guard, and he's still a good defender. Offer him a 2 year deal (1 year plus a team option - an actual option, not unguaranteed salary) so that we can cut bait if need be or hold onto him and end up with early Bird rights that would be sufficient were we to re-sign him.
His market may have dried up enough that he'd accept a team control deal so long as he got a decent chunk of salary.
