I don't think Dallas trades him though.

He's a role player through and through. Really good defender. Usually takes the hardest assignments on defense (Kawhi/Giannis/Lebron/etc). He was a 41% 3pt shooter last year and was 92% from the line.

The Grizzlies and Clippers have agree to a trade that will send veteran point guard Eric Bledsoe back to Los Angeles in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo, and Daniel Oturu, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link).

When a team makes a trade, it's usually
1. to get a better player
2. to shed salary
3. to get prospects
The best player in the trade is Patrick Beverley, who is going to Memphis. The prospect is Daniel Oturu, who is going to Memphis. The Clippers aren't shedding much salary in this trade because Bledsoe only makes about $3m less than the combined salaries of Rondo/Beverley/Oturu; Bledsoe won't any salary commitment next year but the Clippers are already over the cap regardless so what good is that? Plus, you have to figure Memphis probably moves Rondo at some point in the season to another win-now team looking for guard depth in the playoffs.
Of course, there's always the fourth reason, which is "their star demanded it" but Pat Bev didn't lose the Clippers that Suns series, Kawhi's injury did.
Just nonsensical by the Clippers here.

Hold on sec..Lol..Kawli left us 2 play with Bledsoe...omg, what a stupid decision. U could of been God with raptors, won couple more titles, u could of been a Legend, one of the best, now. You are injury player, that will be remembered as player could not win for your home town..and off course your still playing Lebrons house..so sad.

I do not understand this trade at all.

The trade is weird, but feels like a cost saving move for the Clippers. Pretty hilarious given who their owner is.
And I guess the Grizz do it to get Oturu? Or maybe they just want cap space for next season.. Bledsoe's partial guarantee was about $4M. Now they don't have to deal with that.
Bobby Marks also indicated that the Clippers get an $8.3M TPE. I don't see how that math works. The difference between those 3 players and Bledsoe is about $5.1M.
But if it really is $8.3M then they can make another move for a player they prefer over PatBev and Rondo. Oturu was likely not in their long term plans anyway.

LAC will see their tax bill drop from $125M to $95M (savings of $30M)

I know nothing about how the cap works, but I'm guessing it's some repeater tax penalty that ends up equating to $30M, which isn't chump change.... even for billionaires.
