Yes I'd offer Ayton the max, that's the price we'd have to pay to get him, and the only reason I believe he's available is because Phoenix refused to give him the max and that's what he wants. I'm totally fine overpaying for a 23 year old true center averaging 17 pts, 11 reb, and a .640 TS%. Oh did I mention he also plays awesome defense? Because he does. He'd fit fantastic next to Barnes and makes us a title contender. Plus he has that near championship pedigree, he's not a career loser. He's having his best season ever and his team is 2nd in the entire league. I would LOVE to acquire Ayton, he's my number 1 target.

Suns out: Ayton + Saric (torn ACL) + Crowder (they dump him and give Pascal his minutes, Cam Johnson is their young backup PF).

I added in Flynn and Precious to sweeten the deal. Flynn gives them a nice backup PG who actually fits the offense they run unlike with us. Precious gives them a young developing C to replace Ayton at a tiny fraction of the cost. If they want Banton in addition or instead of someone that's cool too. I think that's the best deal we can offer them that includes Pascal.

If I'm Phoenix though I don't want Pascal, his contract is too big and doesn't really fix the cap issues for them (why they don't wanna max Ayton), I want OG. He's cheap and signed for 4 years, that's exactly what they need. A good young player not coming up on a max deal.

That's not bad. I like Ayton, but I'm not sure what happens when you take him away from CP3 and tell him to run PnRs with Fred.

That said... I'd try something similar along those lines to try and get more young players + picks from the Wizards. Pascal has like 3 40+ pt games vs the Wiz, so I think they might hold him in high regard. Also, they are desperate to put players around Beal, who is coming up on free agency yet again.

Something like this:

To Raptors: Thomas Bryant, Deni Avdija, Rui Hachimura, Davis Bertans + 1 unprotected FRP
To Wiz: Siakam + Boucher

Why Wiz do it? Siakam is the best player in the trade. Boucher can be a positive energy player in the right system, i.e., give him no freedom whatsoever. Bertans is a salary dump.

Why Raps do it? 3 young players with NBA experience with upside, including a center and 2 big SF/PF players. Bryant is a breakout candidate. Avdija is 6'9" and has really improved his defense. Hachimura has multi-positional potential. Plus the Wiz will suck and the FRP will be top 5. Swallowing Bertans albatross contract is the hardest thing here... he friggin sucks. But that's why they have to give us the unprotected FRP.

I agree Phoenix probably stays the course during the season but in the offseason this would be the same framework as they can't afford to keep Ayton and Paul and Booker all on $30+M deals which is why the won't max out Ayton.

Ayton for Pascal doesn't help them win the title. They're only interested in moving Ayton because of the cap. Pascal is also $30+M he solves nothing for them. OG solves that problem.

Exactly. only small marginal moves until a move that is too good to give up presents itself. This is an evaluation year.

1. Harkless is a fungible player. He can basically be acquired in the buyout market. And Bagley isn't that good. So I don't see the attraction unless you think Morey loves Fred, who isn't an all-star yet.

So you're basically hoping Maxey will be better than anything Fred can give you, and that 2023 pick can get you. I think you are either underrating Fred, our front office's abilities in drafting a guy or really overrating Maxey.

Like Kawhi, Harden, Davis, Butler did. It's really rare to find a star become a free agent and leave teams now. Especially European born ones who seem to be loyal at a fault (like Giannis was). And who is Jokic dying to play with in Toronto to help win a chip?

5. I mean okay.. but are we rebuilding or trying to win? Trading Fred and a FRP is wishy washy. Unless you use both for a star (like we did with DeMar+Poeltl+pick). Harrison Barnes and Maxey are not stars. It's a waste of two pretty good assets. Maxey isn't as valuable as Fred. And Barnes definitely isn't. That FRP could be more valuable as well, especially given how good our scouts are.

Wasn't sure how Wiseman/ Wiggins/ Kuminga/ Moody are playing this season so looked it up.

Wiseman, hasn't played at all. He played only 39 games last year, and wasn't very good. 7 footer coming off knee surgery is always a big red flag. I don't see the appeal. He seems like a bust.

Kuminga has been sort of OK I guess, but really nothing special, he's had 1 good game all season. An intriguing prospect but it's gonna be a few years of development before he's contributing at a high level. The way some people talk about Kuminga I thought he was killing it but he really isn't at all, what are you guys seeing? His 1 good game?

Moody has been terrible. Not sure if he's an NBA player. Definitely not someone I'm clamoring to trade for. Our 2nd round picks look significantly better than Moody, as do our 2-way players.

Wiggins is having a pretty good season just like last season. Playing next to Curry has allowed him to score more efficiently. He's the only player of sure value coming back, but he plays SF where we are already stacked and don't have room for him, so not a great fit.

I think it still boils down to what it always does. It only makes sense to send out FVV or Pascal in exchange for a star player. If you wanna propose some trades for Ayton or KAT those would be more interesting and could potentially be moves we'd actually wanna make.

I don't blame you. He is an interesting prospect but the intrigue is he is the youngest player in the NBA, having just turned 19 in October. He would basically star on the 905 for a year and a half in an ideal world for us and get the Dalano type of minutes (Dalano is better and ready for prime time now). I think there is something to be said for spending a year or two playing organized college ball.

People are regurgitating in this forum about the Raptors not having depth and here you are minimizing the value of depth… but what I mainly implied was that both Harkless and Bagley are trade fillers but will serve as the 10th/ 11th man of the Sixers rotation. They can however step in when and If the primary guys like Tobias/ Embiid/ Drummond and Niang will sometime go down due to COVID protocol. I am not overrating Maxey…And what are you talking about?….He is 21 years old…he is actually over-performing beyond that young age of his and playing a vital role in a contending team. Hindsight is 20/20 of course but would you have said that to a 21 year old Fred Van Vleet back then? The 2023 pick could be of lesser value by then especially if they are not tanking next season. Do you still see the Raptors tanking for 3 consecutive seasons? There is a higher chance that they may tank this season, why I did not consider including the 2022 pick.

How can you say an absolute statement like this as if you can foresee what will happen two years from now. I am not even going to prolong this especially having you stated absolute statement in the past like “ Svi is a better starter than GTJ “ then eventually danced around to retract it….I am not sure also what you are talking about “connections”? Max money and me giving Masai another chance to acquire a big time free agent would overrule what ever you seem so sure about. they are being traded in exchange for very young prospects to surround Scottie Barnes, not take away the shine of Scottie Barnes. You seem hell bent that both Siakam and Van Vleet will net this team a superstar, not sure who that is. My trade proposal for those two players are very reasonable, don’t think I went a ten for the win scenario. If you are hoping what they can do in the playoffs, good luck to you.

The Raps are 30 games into the schedule and so is the rest of the league. Separation is taking place in the upper levels of the East and the Raps are not the ones pulling away. The Nets and Bucks for sure. But we also have the Bulls and Heat and the surprising Cavs comprising a big five in a very competitive Eastern Conference.
The next eight teams are look and smelll about the same. All can be lumped in as 500 teams led by Philly then the usual suspects. Indy, Boston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Da Knicks the Whiz and your Toronto Raptors. Not a lot to choose from.
Orlando and Detroit are already way back and are likely to fall even further behind.

So whats a Raps fan to do...
The Raps again have been crushed by the covid protocols as half the team is out .Shades of Tampa.
We sit at 10 with only the Knicks and Pacers and Hawks separating us from what could be another single digit lottery pick and another quality young player if we slide to 13th .

I would trade Siakam right now (if it was possible) to get either ayton or SGA. Like as in part of a deal. It wouldn't just be a one-to-one swap. But yeah.... Those deals aren't possible. So no I am fine with trading him. There is one player I wouldn't trade on this team. Only one. There are two that I would put close to that one player. Scottie Barnes is that player. OG is a close second. Siakam would be the other player but he is nowhere near and dear to my heart as Barnes and Siakam.


So no, you aren't correct. I would be willing to trade him. I do not want to dump him for the sake of it and I don't want moves that are lateral moves. Like Sabonis for Siakam in my opinion doesn't help us and Indiana wouldn't or shouldn't be interested based on the fact that they said they want to rebuild.


The biggest difference is that you want to make a move now. I don't think now is the right time to trade FVV or Siakam unless its for the right pieces.. which aren't available because of CBA reasons.
