It's not quite the Kawhi/Spurs situation, but has some vague similarities - every front office in the league saw Simmons implode in the playoffs, and so that should deflate his value. So why would you give multiple impact players up, as well as draft assets, for someone you can't (currently) trust in a big playoff game?

Oh for sure I don't think it's that exact package mentioned you want to give up for Simmons with his value so low, but you know he's better than either one of FVV or OG. Simmons sort of replaces both FVV's playmaking and OG's defence though and if you're adding say Suggs or Green then the scoring is still there. I mean it's not like we didn't survive Gasol passing up shots on the playoffs right? I gotta give the scenario more thought but it's not as crazy as it initially sounded.

Kawhi has almost no holes in his game… the gamble was simply health and motivation. Simmons is an entirely different beast, even at his best. He has universally understood and easily exploitable flaws that 2 coaching staffs haven’t been able to fix and he himself shows no desire to address.

If we do end up getting Simmons, I really hope that Nurse has some kind of magic pill to improve his shooting.

May be an unpopular opinion but I think Simmons would thrive here and I would trade FVV and OG for him if that’s what it took. The more I read about Simmons the more I think he needs a new situation where he can reinvent himself. Too much nonsense in Philly and it seems like he’s never had a real mentor.

Simmons and Siakam is basically Simmons and Tobias Harris.. except we don't have Embiid.
