I believe the original deal was quoted as FVV, OG and a FRP, but didn't say it was this year's.

So Lowry returning was a possibility and if you draft one of the guards in the top 4 and give Trent more shots then your offense is good. Keep in mind we are not so removed from Gasol in our line up when considering how to absorb a player that isn't a scorer.

Gasol was like a 40% three point shooter though? And when his legs gave out and the shot stopped falling the offence kinda died with him on the court (thankfully his defence remained elite).

I wouldn't trade Fred or OG individually for Simmons and his contract, let alone both. Simmons real value is in the toilet guys. These kind of non-sensical tweets are put all there to try to artificially raise a the perception of value, but teams know that he's a massive problem in the playoffs and that the fanbase (and likely management) want him gone. They can't waste another year of Embiid's prime with him there, and other GM's know it. Embiid need a real floor spacing PG, not a floor-shrinking one.

I think the "upgraded" trade package is being misinterpreted.

It's a combination of those guys, which also happens to be our best assets.

So any number of combinations that gets us Simmons, including probably 2 of: Lowry, #4, FVV, Siakam or OG.

And we probably rejected it. Which we should have.


But if we have serious interest in Ben and we get closer to something that could work for both teams, I could see it ending up being something like Lowry + prospect + future pick. With that prospect most likely being Malachi since we don't really have great prospects right now in our pipe line (other than him).

He'll be entering just his 5th season so definitely hasn't reached his peak. Just a matter of his approach after a disastrous playoffs, whether he wants to improve or is one of those guys that thinks they are above being coahced or being critiqued.

Absolutely it's an area he needs to improve on no argument, but why are you only considering 3PA's as point production? He's an efficient scorer from other areas of the floor. Despite the playoff drop he still managed to be a solid scorer through the season and Nurse is an upgrade on Doc, so certainly could find new ways to get him to his spots.

The main issue with Simmons is not his shooting. Shooting can be fixed.

Simmons problem is his attitude and mental toughness. That's much harder to fix and sometimes, impossible. He could end up being a rich man's Bargnani: i.e., tantalizing superstar potential who leaves a graveyard of coaches in his wake who tried to unlock that talent.

If the motivation to improve and compete isn't coming from within the player, that's a really tough road for coaches, teammates, fans, etc... That's probably one of the reasons why Butler left Philly.

My point was that it is extremely easy to fit a player who is not a scorer into an offensive role, so long as they space the floor. Doing neither is the hard part.

According to Bleacher Report, talks between the Sixers and the Toronto Raptors are considered to be the most advanced of any that have been had on Simmons. Philadelphia is interested in acquiring Kyle Lowry from the Raptors, as they were at last season's trade deadline.

Still, if I'm the Raps, I look at immediately flipping Simmons as the first choice, rather than exerting a ton of energy trying to figure out how to unlock his potential.

All due respect to you, but what I dont understand. You just agreed to a post on another thread about a grandfather offer of Van Vleet/ Norm/ FRP for Beal with Beal as a archetypical no.2 option yet here you are backtracking your earlier steps saying that Simmons is a diva then changing your stance defending a deal acquiring Simmons.
who by the way is a lesser talent than Beal. Smh

If there is ever a deal to get Simmons, I dont think Masai and Webster will just call it a day and book a first class flight to Antigua. I am sure there will be secondary deals.

Did they not acquire Kawhi in the offseason, waited how a roster of Kawhi would pan out with JV then traded for Gasol before the deadline?

I have no interest in any Simmons trade that includes the 4th pick or OG. There are reports that Toronto turned down the asking price of OG, FVV, Lowry and the 4th pick for Simmons. Of course there would have to be more coming back from Philli, but still a hard no.

I'd rather if we just made our pick at 4, and tried to sign and trade Lowry, then play next season out. The core of OG, the rookie, Siakam, GTJ, Flynn and FVV is worth exploring. We still have cap room to round out the roster as well. I can see OG improving a bit, GTJ could take a huge leap with an offseason, Siakam still has to get back to where he was, and we have a top 5 rookie coming in.

Masai shows his patience when building a team, I hope he does with this. We don't need Simmons.
