Pascal is a better defender, rebounder, passer, free throw shooter, and teammate. About the only thing Wiggins does better than Pascal is shoot the three, and that only slightly, and we're talking about last season, which was probably Wiggins' best season and one of Pascal's weakest. Pascal is one season removed from being an All-NBA player, for crissake.
The Sixers are properly taking the position that Ben Simmons, who at present cannot play in a playoff series, is worth at minimum two first-round draft picks. Raptors fans are willing to toss Pascal, who is flat-out better than Ben Simmons by every possible metric, for one first-rounder and some garbage. Is this overcorrection for the years when Raps fans were like "man if we trade DeMar we better get four first-rounders and CP3"?

The trade Proposed is James Wiseman (2nd overall pick last year) + 7th overall pick this year + Wiggins (needed to match salaries and he's an OK player) for Pascal.
So that's 2 top 7 draft picks + a useful player for Pascal.
Wiseman slots in as our center now and for the future, he had a pretty good rookie season and is clearly a solid player with a lot of room to grow.
Wiggins slots in as our new starting SF and OG moves to PF.
We then have 2 1st round draft picks, 4th overall and 7th overall, to complete the mini rebuild. Take Suggs/Green and then Barnes and we now have some solid depth too.
FVV / Flynn
Suggs / Trent
Wiggins / Barnes
OG / Boucher
Wiseman / Birch
That's a good young team with a lot of potential.
If we're gonna deal Pascal this is the kind of deal that makes sense for us.
We also still have a Lowry S&T on the table for more depth or picks.Last edited by Primer; Mon Jun 28, 2021, 04:48 PM.

There's no way Golden State would through Wiggins into that trade. The seventh pick and Wiseman are already big assets to move. Wiseman had a tough start, like many big men have. I doubt they cut ties to him that quickly. They have options to move 7th, 14th, and Wiggins... They'll get decent return for that.

I'm sensing some reading comprehension issues.

I will also stand up for Magoon here because you kind of fired a shot by saying "it's a comprehension issue". You are also taking a step back for no reason. Not to mention you are able to draft a center who fits beside one of our stars regardless of how you feel about pascal, pascal is a VERY good player on both ends of the ball. Mobley can fit beside Pascal.
OG is good I like having a large large team personally with Pascal and adding Mobley. If you want to draft Suggs instead sure.
Wiggins for Pascal is a huge step back defensively. Can't overstate that basically, you are trading an all NBA guy for a guy who can score somewhat inefficiently. Wiggins has only scored at a decent rate when he was beside Steph.....FVV isn't steph.
Also Ideally you want a center that can also spread the floor here and there to keep defenses honest. Wiseman isn't going to be doing that.
So you are taking a step back. I think this team with the number 4 regardless of who you pick is going to be top 4/5 in the east with or without lowry, but if you take out one of our best players for Wiggins its a big step down. I don't get why everyone likes Wiggins either. Everyone complains about pascal's contract... well guess what they have to give away the 7th pick just to potentially even entice us to take that big max contract. Contracts do matter for team building and Wiggins doesn't help us in that regard. I also personally think Wiggins plays out of position. He is more closer to a tall SG, but I still say no. Not at the number and the amount of years he has left on that deal.
If you redraft last year's draft, Wiseman doesn't go number 2. So that's a bad argument. I think there is an argument that Wiseman satisfies a potential need at the center but with other options that have been outlined that can either act as a stopgap or as solutions available I'd rather go with the solutions that are less expensive on our assets.
Also no to simmons as well. too much of a gamble on fixing his mental game. His issue goes beyond the shot. the shot needs work either in mechanics or switching hands or both... but that is a 2 year project and then on top of that you need to build his confidence and that also takes time non of that is a guarantee. So yeah.
Alsoo I don't think Barnes goes #7 so you did all that and you end up with another guard project because its too early in the draft at 7 to take someone like Kai Jones.
Now you have to develop Flynn,Trent, Suggs, GTJ, ANOTHER PROSPECT, Harris.Last edited by TrueTorontoFan; Mon Jun 28, 2021, 05:03 PM.
