MPJ plays like a dummy on both ends of the floor. Hard pass. I wouldn't even trade Siakam for him and y'all know what I think of Siakam.

Denver will want #4.. future picks could be middle of the pack after this season. If the Cavs have interest, they'll want #3.
I just don't see a fit. He's a scorer, which we need.. but what would the line up look like?
OG/MP/Pascal/Trent/FVV?
Or do we move OG to SG and get Birch in as a starting 5? What's the tax situation like if we get another guy making the max at 25% of the cap?
I don't think we should do it either.. but I find him pretty intriguing.
My concern would be the contract he is going to demand cause I'm not confident he's going to turn into a reliable #2 guy on both ends, so paying him that much is a tough pill to swallow. EDIT: And the cost of giving up the #4 pick. Suggs. Green and Mobley could all be as good and are way cheaper.Last edited by slaw; Fri Jul 23, 2021, 10:42 AM.

Agreed. People forget he is 22 and has only played 2 seasons (including missing nearly two years of basketball). His game has a lot of room to grow, especially in terms of playmaking. He was very consistent in a featured role when Murray went down. Yes, he had a tough playoffs against Phoenix but that's to be expected for a young guy getting his first taste of being the focus of a defense. Skill set wise, he's exactly what the Raps need.

If Pascal, OG and FVV are etched in stone as our future core, then the most likely position for that crunch-time scorer would be a starting SG. Suggs or Green would hopefully fill that role.

The no cap space Lakers.
Kyle after letting the world know he wants 25$M a year for at least two year term is suddenly going to sign for the vet minimum.
Kyle is a lot of things but a charity for the LALakers isn’t one of them.
Colour me skeptical..

Kuzma + Caruso goes to one team.
KCP + THT goes to the other.
Caruso is a UFA and THT is an RFA's so would have to give permission on trades of course.
They can throw in pick #22 (after it was selected) as well. Or use Harrell instead as a contract (although he has to opt into his final year). Or use Schroeder in a S&T too.
I don't see it happening either, but it can be done. Cap space is not always needed to bring in a free agent.
This apparently is going to be the summer of the S&T. That's what a lot of people are predicting.

But...
Just because some Laker spare parts are going on sale doesn’t make it a deal...
Especially if the guys on the other side of the table are RC Buford and Masai Ujiri.

Lakers were right there in the room at the deadline but didn't want to part with THT. I think the price might have gone up now but the Lakers know what it is.

I think the Spurs say no before the Raps though. They did it with Kawhi before.

Pope has had some legal issues that might preclude him from a work permit here in ici Canada.
I think trading Kyle for players and or draft picks is a great option ...one that we should pursue
Kyle doesn't have a NoMoveClause in that Bobsai Webjuri will give him a couple of other options along with the team he says he needs help to get to get to.
He won't need help to get to Miami or the Knicks. If they want to New Orleans can do a couple of salary dumps but that would be self inflicting wounds they don't have to take. .
GOLDBLUM mused that maybe nothing is better than a poor S&T if we simply renounce Kyle. It does give us ~20M of folding money. Thats pretty good.
Still you have to be able to get the guys you want and get them to come or maybe we hold the space and see if we can get something of value by renting our space to teams trying to make a deal. Thats how the Cavs got Allen.
Philly still has to be interested. Sounds like Morey hesitated on price in March. I guess he figured he could get another kick at Lowry at FA. He was right but his cards aren't as good as they were last time around.
Lakers might be interested...I like Schoeder but he isn't Lowry when the game gets close and physical in the playoffs. Lowrys got the temprement to live with the Lebron circus. Do we like what LA can cobble together as being better than what others can do.
Dallas could be a player. They have the Zinger who could use a change of scenery. He might have got it with Carlisle leaving the Mavs and a new guy is behing the bench. Dallas has FRP a ways out .. tougher deal here
I still like New Orleans the most. They have a compelling reason to act. They have young players who function more like piece parts in New Orleans right now and they have out year draft picks that could be in the teens instead of 20s if Griffin lottery protects a FRP. Even at 35 Lowry fits better than Lonzo does in NO with Zion and Ingram. Does he want to go there though.
Just gotta wait and see...There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.
