I would consider Lowry S&T, Siakam and future picks (22, 24) but I think that would be my offer. Hopefully Simmons would accept playing the 4, in a point forward role.

All due respect to you, but what I dont understand. You just agreed to a post on another thread about a grandfather offer of Van Vleet/ Norm/ FRP for Beal with Beal as a archetypical no.2 option yet here you are backtracking your earlier steps saying that Simmons is a diva then changing your stance defending a deal acquiring Simmons.
who by the way is a lesser talent than Beal. Smh
The intrigue (for me) in bringing Simmons in is his play making, elite defense and how that would fit in with Siakam, Lowry, Trent and the 4th pick. He can elevate everyone's game. Beal, as great a scorer as he is doesn't impact the game in other ways. Now I'm not saying I want Simmons the Diva, but is he a guy that would benefit from a change of scenery?

Simmons is a major fixer-upper, guys. He's a player who needs the ball in hands to be effective.... yet he doesn't want the ball in his hands when the game is on the line. And when he does have the ball, he gets fouled and loses the game at the FT line. There's a major contradiction there. A problem with no obvious solution. Simmons can be a team's weakest link that can be exploited at the worst possible time. We all just saw that. That's why Philly wants him gone. I don't see how a change in scenery fixes any of his inherent problems.
This is a buy-low opportunity, not something you trade 2 all-stars + picks. Even then, I'd buy-low and flip.

saints91 wrote: View PostI have no interest in any Simmons trade that includes the 4th pick or OG. There are reports that Toronto turned down the asking price of OG, FVV, Lowry and the 4th pick for Simmons. Of course there would have to be more coming back from Philli, but still a hard no.
I'd rather if we just made our pick at 4, and tried to sign and trade Lowry, then play next season out. The core of OG, the rookie, Siakam, GTJ, Flynn and FVV is worth exploring. We still have cap room to round out the roster as well. I can see OG improving a bit, GTJ could take a huge leap with an offseason, Siakam still has to get back to where he was, and we have a top 5 rookie coming in.
Masai shows his patience when building a team, I hope he does with this. We don't need Simmons.

Let's be real here, FVV/Norm/FRP is not getting you Beal. A grandfather offer for him is going to cost this team a lot more than that.

You maybe right, the FRP may no longer be the 4th pick if we have gotten him this past season, though their FRP would still have turned a top 5 pick or better.
Subsequently, we wont be engage in this conversation about getting Simmons if we already have Beal and
Siakam as the two core.

If Masai trades down, he will probably aim to acquire two FRPs for his 4th pick.
that would allow him to include 1 of 2 FRP as a sweetener in a bigger deal to get a significant established player while still possessing still 1 more for future development
Most likely he and his team sees the talent gap between 4 and 6/8 are not that far off
just my take

ahem:
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...eous-alexander
And the next All-Star-caliber player team personnel currently eye as available: Oklahoma City point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who's suddenly eligible to sign a projected five-year, $168 million rookie scale extension this summer. It would appear, however, any interested team would need to meet the Thunder's significant asking price. "It's going to take a f--king lot to get him, but he's no longer impossible to get," said one team executive.
That would present a categorical change in the Thunder's approach to Gilgeous-Alexander from ahead of the 2020 draft last August, sources said, when all four teams selecting within the first four picks contacted OKC about the 23-year-old and were quickly rebuffed by Thunder officials.
Flashing forward to this summer, where Oklahoma City proactively called Detroit to offer Gilgeous-Alexander plus the No. 6 pick for No. 1, sources said, in an attempt to land Cade Cunningham—the framework B/R's Jonathan Wasserman first alluded to on Monday. Since drawing the top selection in June, Detroit has consistently messaged to rival teams it would need a first in this year's draft, future draft ammo and an established young star.
