Raps need perimeter scoring (really a SG) and a centre. This Heat proposal solves exactly zero of those issues.

Ok..Rumours are flying..
Kyle Lowry goes 2 maimi in Sign and Trade to Maimi for Goran Dragic, Precious Achiuwa and pick.
Than Raptors flip Goran Dragic to Dallas to play with Doncic for Moses Brown and picks or
Goran Dragic and pick from raptors for Josh Green.
Raptors clear cap space with this deal.
Sign and Trade saves them ton of money because of the bird right traded and moving Goran to Dallas would also give them more Cap room."Never apologize for coming to me. Office hours are for patients.

Carroll was a fine signing outside of being broken. I agree with you that they should not fire Masai and replace him with Bryan Colangelo. Totally on the same page there.
Aim for good players, sign good players, and the worst you'll have is an overpaid good player. So long as the player is good, the contract won't be too bad.
The point is the long term planning. Let's say you keep Dragic, you sell him at the deadline for another expiring contract and a 2nd rounder. Next summer, how are you improving the team?

Couldn’t Miami just trade Dragic and the pick to OKC’s cap space and then sign Lowry outright while keeping Precious and Okpala? They still have a path to cap space no?

Long term overpaying a mediocre player is way worse than a year of Dragic. You never want bad contracts. We don't have any right now and we shouldn't add one just because we can make some cap space. Trades have always been how we improve the team and will always be how we do it. Free agency will never be an avenue to success for the Raptors.
Point is, sign a Chris Paul, not an Andrew Wiggins, and there’s no worries. The Raptors have a good scouting staff, I trust them not to add a bad player.
And if you want to improve the team via trade, the more pieces you have to trade the better.
If if it eases things, apparently there is more of a market for Dragic than I had assumed, so in all likelihood the Raps can keep whatever assets they pull from Miami and still find a taker for Dragic.

If worse comes to worse, we hold on to Dragic until the trade deadline. We might be able to get an asset in return (nothing like Masai was asking for Lowry). But DanH was right we might have to take back a bad contract in that deal.
The fact he’s on his last year makes him easier to move now.

The optimal time to trade Dragic in this scenario is immediately. Paul and Conley are apparently locks to sign back with the Suns and Jazz, and once Lowry is off the table, Dallas and New Orleans will both need point guards and almost certainly Philadelphia as well. Maybe one of them manages to sign Lonzo Ball, but Chicago seems determined to get him. After Lonzo, the pickings get weaker in a hurry, and Dragic is a better pure point guard than all of them.
Ideally, we pry Nickeil Alexander-Walker from New Orleans for Dragic (and maybe the draft rights to Herb Jones, or some future draft compensation) but New Orleans can give us the most and best stuff for Dragic. Philly can try to work out a multiple team trade involving Ben Simmons. Dallas... I dunno. Future picks, I suppose. Or a multiteam swap involving Porzingis maybe.
But in any event, the time to get best return for Dragic is as soon as possible, before those teams desperate for point guards resolve those needs on their own.
