I wish it wasn't Miami, but I want those guys to team up again. The Knicks, and the Pelicans could also make it happen easier.

Actually the Knnicks could have a really fun starting lineup with Kyle, DeMar, RJ, Randle, and Robinson. They also would be able to resign their guys with bird rights and have a bench. 52.5 in cap space can get the Kyle and DeMAr deals done, and then the others would be able to be signed over the cap.
They haven't really been linked to NY yet though.

Everything is so quiet this morning.. was expecting a lot of stuff coming out in the morning. I guess that Bucks/Kings botched trade last season made a difference to free agency.
What I still don't get is why the Heat picked up Dragic's option. They could have retained an asset or two by just taking Kyle into cap space. But with a S&T they can get the full mid-level. Still doesn't really seem like it's worth it.
Dragic is a good point guard. Thought he was the second or third best Heat in the playoffs last year (not that it meant much - they got swept). But he's a willing 6th man and can help a team win.
We are so badly needing a C. Might get complicated but if we could flip Dragic into getting a center via trade, rather than through free agency.. we could keep our mid-level and bring back another contract as well.

Hopefully we find that third team to take Dragic and actually get an asset out of that move as well. Precious is not enough to help Miami with a sign and trade. With picking up Dragic, they need us now, time to get as much as we can.

Well if the morning is too quiet you can always read my Lowry SnT article! Though the Heat section is by far the most relevant at this point with that particular outcome heating up in the last 24 hours since I actually wrote the thing.

The Dragic third team discussion is interesting - they could use it to maintain cap room, and that's the most likely outcome, but they could also use it to bring in salary, roll in even more teams into the same deal. Maybe some assets go Indy's way and it becomes a Turner trade that gets them off some salary, maybe Dallas sends Dwight Powell to the Raps to be a decent, relatively cheap C. Once you are sending out a big salary like Lowry during free agency with so many teams in flux, the possibilities become endless.
They could even enter into SnT negotiations with any team they were hoping to use cap room to poach from - hey, Atlanta, you don't want to have to match on a 25M offer for Collins? Why not SnT him to us and get some assets coming your way?

I don't think the Raps can get the 2025 Miami FRP. Looking at their future picks owed:
2023 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City
Miami's 1st round pick to Oklahoma City (via L.A. Clippers) protected for selections 1-14 in 2023, 1-14 in 2024 and 1-14 in 2025 and unprotected in 2026 [L.A. Clippers-Miami, 7/6/2019; L.A. Clippers-Oklahoma City, 7/10/2019]
Miami is a tough team to get a pick from. Hopefully the team we can flip Dragic to can get us a pick (if that's what Masai/Bobby want of course).

In your article you mentioned the Raps also getting the Heat 2025 pick.
I don't think the Raps can get the 2025 Miami FRP. Looking at their future picks owed:
The 2025 can be owed to OKC if it's not conveyed in 2023 or 2024. So they would have to work with OKC to negotiate that one, or change the language on the pick so the Raps can get it.
Miami is a tough team to get a pick from. Hopefully the team we can flip Dragic to can get us a pick (if that's what Masai/Bobby want of course).
A pick conditional on availability would just slip along with the protections - so if their 2023 is actually conveyed in 2024, we'd get the 2026 pick.

Good article DanH! Not loving what’s coming our way, but if you look at the rosters they don’t have much depth at the 5/4. I think I like the Dallas trade the best with Powell and pick coming back. But it’s looking more and
more like it’s Miami. (I don’t know why I have faith in the media’s rumours)
We could always use more shooting and young talent. Is it possible that we could get Herro and Iggy (S&T)? No picks involved. Miami probably values Herro too much for them to pull the trigger. It gives us incentive to help Miami get the S&T done though.

We'll get Dragic, Achiuwa, and Okpala in return for Lowry. Maybe Miami throws in a future 1st as well or pick swap or something.
Then we flip Dragic to someone else for more assets.
It's not a super sexy return, but could become better depending on what we get from Dragic (hopefully something good from NO).
Achiuwa is a decent young player who helps us out at C. He was the 20th pick in the 1st round last year so kinda like getting a 1st in rerun for Lowry, but one that is more game ready to contribute.
Okpala doesn't seem like anything special but maybe we can turn him into something on the 905.

I'm not all that impressed with Precious Achiuwa, he's an undersized 5, same standing reach as OG, Pascal and Barnes, shoots 50% at the FT line. If we get something from a third team for Dragic, then Precious is okay as a throw in, but he's hardly the player we need. I know people have hopes that he'll turn into another Bam, but that's a high bar.

This will be an interesting study in reporting.
Trade deadline...Lowry's getting traded! He's been traded to the Lakers! He's been traded to the Heat...........Masai doesn't trade him
Draft. Raps picking Suggs! Raps taking whoever is left of the top 4. Top 4 picks are certain and then it get's interesting......Masai picks Barnes
Free agency. Lowry to the Heat!. Plenty of other rumors but this is the one with the most steam......what does Masai do?
