Simmons wants out but he's not going to leave $33M sitting on the table. He'll hold out as long as possible and then report so he can get paid. That's way too much money to pass up.
Sacramento seems the only realistic landing spot in California if he absolutely needs to go to California.
The situation is a total mess for Philly and I'm loving it. Masai is the kind of GM who would meet with Simmons and nip this shit in the bud. Morey ain't Masai.

Yeah, I vaguely recall somebody mentioning that...

If Raptors are truly interested in Simmons, then they'd have to get Klutch to persuade him to give Toronto a try, i.e. come here with an open mind, like Kawhi did. That's one reason why you might overpay and give player-friendly contract terms to another client from the same agency (like Trent Jr).... to call in a favor.

To make a deal you have to include one of Fred, OG or Pascal.. and then it's an overpay.
I mean.. technically it can be done for Dragic+Boucher, with picks.. but then we are paying tax, with not a lot of easy ways to duck it by the end of the season. Would we eat some tax to bring in Ben for that poop on a plate?
Let's see what Morey gets. Didn't Indiana offer Brogdon and a FRP a while back? They should see if that deal is available again.

Ya, I’m still out on Simmons. I still think we are more like the 2013-14 Raps that need a couple years of playoff experience and then pull the trigger when we need that final piece.
Our depth is already being restocked with good players, we have all our draft picks going forward. Nows not the time, every year there seems to another “Ben Simmons†wanting out.

I'm in on Simmons if we can get him cheap. (Dragic and Boucher). I know it technically hurts the offense, but the thought of Og, Pascal, Simmons, Barnes and precious or khem is terrifying and could be the #1 defense in the league. I do also think that big events sometimes change players. So Simmons could easily be more open to changing his game here.
I mean look, he's already ready to play for any team, that's already a change.......

Its an impasse.
Simmons has engaged his agent in a players league to get him out and out he will go. What will Philly get ?
It'll still be more than Malcom Brogdon and a 1st to get him.
BUt not anywhere near the 3 FRP and the starting all star calibre player Morey is looking for. .
Sad.
Not sad.
Philly has crested. Its downhill for them from here.
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

This is going to go down like the Harden trade, without getting the value. Simmons will be forced to report. Morey will think he can raise Simmons value by showcasing him. Simmons gives a half assed effort and forces his way out.
If only they had Babcock as a GM
