  • It's the Paul George / Devin Booker show in the 3rd

    • Overall the Suns look to be more athletic than the Jazz overall... This will prove to be problematic for the Clips as the series wears on. .
      And
      They make their free throws.

      • Ayton has made some good decisions as the mid-point against a Clippers zone as well

        • Who called Reggie Jackson and Cameron Payne to be the starting point guards in the WCF?

            • And the Utah Jazz look back and wonder who the guys wearing terrence mann and reggie jacksons jerseys were that played against them as a much more familiar jackson and mann show up today against the suns.

Sometimes its when you play them ..as the Suns look to go Rambo and draw first blood with a couple minutes to go. .

Not everybody in the lineup needs to be a defensive stopper in order to win a game.

                Cameron Payne over Patrick Mccaw.

The Suns play much better perimeter defense than the Jazz do. The Clippers beat the Jazz because they went five-out and just shot a ton of threes against Utah's weak perimeter. They can't do that against the Suns because the Suns have perimeter defense.

But wouldn’t you rather watch defense-first players learn how to dribble, shoot and finish layups?

McCaw wasn’t a defensive stopper either... that aspect was highly mis-represented. Unless you mean stopping his own team’s offense.

                      • Didn't get to watch it, nice to see Suns win one with Paul out. Hopefully he's back and healthy. Guess I'm mostly hoping for a Suns win now. Really dislike Milwaukee but a Bucks win would be good for the smaller market, star staying home narrative. That would be good for all the non-destination orgs, including the Raptors.

                        • Van Gundy made a good point in the fourth quarter after one of Booker’s mid range jumpers. Said as more teams defend the rim and try to take away the 3 if you don’t have a guy that can create a shot and score in the mid range you won’t have playoff success. Similar to the theme in the draft thread of needing to draft someone that can create their own shot and pull up off the dribble and score in the half court in the last 5 minutes.

You need someone who can hit midrangers at a relatively decent clip. That said it cant be their entire game like Demar. Y ou basically need a shot creator. That is what a shot creator can do. They can essentially go in the half course and create a bucket. Most top level iso scorers can't carry an offense on their own unless they are Luka or Harden. I wouldn't even suggest that it is a great way to sustainably win either but that player is needed. That said, while some have suggested that player for us could be Lavine, I would counter that he isn't good enough. I would look to the draft. IN FACT I now feel bold enough to say I would rather make a gamble and trade up in the draft for one if it is possible if we are somehow 7th. I would package our picks and a future pick just to move up in this draft to get into the top 4.

That player doesn't necessarily need to be a Guard either. It could be a Wing or a center. Either way you need a dynamic offensive player who can create and create in an elite way that overcomes defensive limitations IF they have defensive limitations.
