Gary can get his off in the NBA because it's fast. Scottie's looked too slow for the NBA to me.
I don't put any stock in runs so I'll just ignore this and wait for preseason to see how Scottie has progressed. Rico runs are terrible basketball.
It's all about creating separation.

Except he was playing with Scottie, Trent. Flynn, and Jakob, he's the 5th option with that group and needs to do other things than just shoot to find playing time, otherwise a guy like Matt Thomas would still be around.
It's freaking Rico Hines, there's virtually zero plays or actions.

Well, the likes of Luka, Harden, Shai and others have slow release too.
It's all about creating separation.

Scottie doesn’t have to worry about creating separation. Teams dare him to shoot in the half-court as the primary creator. Been looking at some of the videos on the RR and it’s pretty glaring. Zero respect for his shot, which makes him a liability as a PG… they can double his teammates which makes it harder for them to score.
Why are you guys still stuck on traditional offensive systems?

Yeah, poor wording on my part. I was actually referring to the non-Scottie Raptors lacking skill. Scottie wasn’t bad at all, but he doesn’t look like he’s upgraded his skills in a big way either.

release speed is meaningless if teams are letting you shoot, as golden points out, or if you're tall enough/have a long enough wingspan to get your shot off anyway when defenses start to respect it. lot's of incredible players don't have lighting quick releases. really only matters if you're a guard (a traditionally small guard, i should say)

I thought he looked like he was playing sound defence, for a rookie that is promising. Jak looked good, as did Trent. I also thought that Jeff Dowtin looked good as well on the second team. He's ahead of Flynn on the depth chart in my opinion.
Harper Jr. looked like hes thinned down a bit. Boucher was unimpressive mainly because he was trying to play a larger role than he should.

i don't put a ton of stock into these runs either, i just think it's a bit weird when he does completely dominate one and look like the best player in the gym for the immediate reaction to be to shit on it.

No other sport does this and calls it training for the season, because it's doesn't make you better and other than having fun it's a total waste of time. I think it's even worse because it reinforces bad habits.
