    Agree.
    that take is indeed strange.

Bleacher Report even has Scottie at 10 in their under 22 best prospect list.
    Maxey came in at 13th.
That’s a lot closer than I would’ve thought, but I guess Scottie’s stock has really fallen.

      • Is that recent? Looks a bit like rookie year Scottie.

It was posted over a year ago. Before last season.

My expectation is for regular 20/10/5 seasons in the future.... depending on how Scottie's 3-pt shot develops. Something like 17.5 / 8.5 / 5.5 would be good progress for this year.

If Pascal is on the team all season this seems more realistic. If Pascal is moved I think 20/10 is a safe bet.

                  • I'm hoping Scottie gets closer to 23ppg. Tatum made a jump from 15ppg to 23ppg in his 3rd year.. and he too had a down year in his second year. I think 18-20 is about right.

As for the rebounds that's tough simply because of how crowded the front court is. Jak/Pascal will gobble up a lot of boards. Boucher/Precious as well. Scottie is great in transition so him grabbing boards off of misses and running it down will likely help him gain more boards. But I think he's likely in the 6-8 range there.

Those big PPG jumps are usually because of the 3-ball improvement (attempts & 3P% going up). Tatum went from 3.9 to 7.1 3PA. I just don't see that with Scottie. Plus, he's not a score-first player, by nature. And furthermore, being score-first is now called "being selfish" in Raptorland.

So you think Scottie will usurp Pascal and everyone else to become our number one scorer by far?

??????Scottie was 5th in PPG on the Raptors last year. Tatum was 2nd in his 2nd year, behind Kyrie who was gone in his 3rd year.

                        • I think an important metric I'm watching this year for Scottie will be free throw attempts per game. If he's getting to the line that mean's he's driving, being aggressive, and using his physicality. That should increase his ppg as well.

Pascal last year attempted 18.5 FGA
                            Fred, 16. Gary, 14.
OG and Scottie tied at 13.

Not inpossible for Scottie to attempt 18 this year.

The metric I'm keeping an eye on this season not just for Scottie, but for the team as a whole are the turnovers. Schroder starting should help, but if they move him to the bench and it's Scottie and Pascal doing most of the ball handling then it's probably a good indicator of how successful the team will be without a prototypical point guard.

I said hope.. not will. I know it's a long shot that's why I dialed back to a realistic 18-20.

But I don't think it's completely out of the realm. Pascal might average less than he did last year (he had 24 last year). It's a matter of how the team plays. If the first preseason game was any indication than Pascal was more off ball and took less shots. That could be by design. We'll see of course.

Either way, I'm hoping Scottie ups his usage, is way more aggressive than last year and is far more consistent. I know the 3pt shot is a thing he needs to work on, but guys like DeMar and Jimmy were able to get to the 20's without a 3 point shot. Scottie needs to get to the line more often though, and again be more aggressive. He got 18 in 15 minutes in his first pre season game. Maybe it's not impossible?

Also I'm hoping with Darko we start averaging a lot more points as a team than we did under Nurse, so there is a larger piece of the pie for Scottie to get his. We were 24th in ppg as a team last year. So there is room to grow there for sure.
