  • What's the point of this Claxton discussion? Raptors know Brooklyn will match unless the offer is insane. And the Raptors are in no position to make an insane offer at this point in their rebuild.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

He's a FA and Toronto has been discussed as a possible landing spot for him. He seems like a good fit with Scottie so it's a fun discussion while waiting to see what actually happens.

He's UFA not RFA so if Raptors were actually the more desirable destination we could get him.

Why we would want him makes no sense.

He's a slightly younger Jak clone that will cost more.

If we are getting a new center I'd want someone very different than Jak not identical but a few years younger and more expensive.

crazy how sports media has changed over the years. You would have had to wait for someone to report this not too long ago

He's a UFA, but the Nets have full Bird rights. It will take a crazy offer, like 30X4 maybe, to pry him loose.

it's 270 if he makes all-nba before the extension kicks in otherwise it's 225, or 45 AAV. (or less than pascal's 4 yr 190/47.5 AAV)

just want to get ahead of that because invariably some ppl will start complaining about how overpaid he is. not necessarily on this board, but on the internet and by the doug smiths of the world.

it's a no brainer contract and not offering it to a 23 year old all star would have been an unprecedented slap in the face

Yeah, I mean nobody on this board would ever call our own players overpaid.

                    • Phew...thought the Scottie news trashed the forum with 2 days to go to the draft. That purple Scottie jersey is going to fly.

                      • This was a no brainer extension. Glad it was done with early. Can now concentrate on IQ's next contract. And that will be more important. Hope some how we get a good value deal from it.

Either way congrats Scottie! May you handle the wrath of Raptor fandom gracefully.

                        • We are building around him.

Great to know we have him signed to a new contract.

                          Congrats Scottie

certainly i've never seen you let a free agent signing ruin your summer vacation

My wish and personal expectation is for him to have the same career trajectory as Jason Tatum.
