Kawhi? Lebron? Man this guy is going to get seriously flamed by Raptor fans if he doesn't turn into a star. Expectations are way to high.

Always happens though. Pascal had a bad bubble and an up and down season and gets ripped to shreds. Isn't there is a poster on this board that wants to trade him for guys like Bagley and Hield lol.

Hopefully Barnes turns out as good as Pascal has. That would be a high bar in my opinion.
LOL Kevin O'Connor was just like at worst Barnes is Draymond. At best Barnes can be one of the best players in the league. "I'll can't imagine there are 3 players better than Scottie Barnes in this draft"

    • So Verno has Suggs at no worse than four and then O'Connor has Barnes no worse than three.... who's dropping out?

If Barnes turns out to be as good as Pascal it's great, but as I said pre-draft, the Raps need to knock this one out of the park. They need this to be a franchise altering pick for all the reasons free agency shows us each year. That's the high bar I hope he reaches.

If the Raptors wind up with two players operating at Pascals level, they WILL have knocked it out of the park.

              • If Barnes is Pascal 2.0 then he's a bust. I expect him to be a lot better than Siakam. .

I agree with Thorpe. And i've been sayin it for a year now too. Pat Williams is the closest thing to Kawhi Leonard. Just watch him play. I don't see the Barnes/Kawhi comp that some here keeps talking about. The only similarities that Barnes and Kawhi have is that they have the same shooting form, both of them have a high release on their shot. Barnes to me a is a Pippen/Green hybrid.

Unless he surprises everyone, I don't think he'll start, so probably not.
he will make the all rookie team he could get the roy maybe but raptors have to be KILLING IT and he will have to be doing super well. not just defensively but his offensive game. He will need to average over 10 points in his first year ... he acn do that but I don't think it happens.

I agree being as good as Pascal would still be an amazing get for us.
Scottie will probably already be the better playmaker from day1.
And will have similar impact on the defensive end.

                      • I see pippin mixed with magic Johnson personally, not so much green at all.

Scottie is coming in younger and more polished than Siakam. Credit to Siakam for putting in the work to get to where he is.

I didn’t think so either until I watched some guy break down both their games. It will be amazing if Scottie can actually develop a better offensive game.

I hope he gets that starting spot while Pascal is out. I still think he could benefit from some focused time in the Gleague.

                            • I'm on the Scottie train too but I think it would serve us well to look at last year's summer league thread where there was serious consideration given as to whether Malachi Flynn was going to be Chris Paul (or better)
