  • We also need to take the Green comparison out of the window. This guy is so much better than Draymond Green. I don't remember Green shooting a fadeaway or a pull up jump shot, I don't even remember him posting up.

Draft will always be a Crapshoot draft that has not changed my opinion about it….unless there was a surefire Shag/ Duncan/ Lebron type no.1 BUT Masai may have hit the jackpot for his no.4 pick….but yet again time will tell.

However, Scottie has the fundamentals to be one of the best of the game.

Again I am so eager to know how he respond with Siakam back.
The vibe I am getting is that it will be more about how Siakam will respond

As we have seen Scottie has many facets to his game and will be able to adjust. He has this confidence unlike Pascal's issue with "the guy" thing last year.

My recollection is that Damon was given the keys to the team day one. He played a lot of minutes right from the start. More than Scottie? I think so. I can't remember if he was the starting point guard. He did beat all other rookies for minutes played
        First 7 games:
        Damon Stoudamire: 38, 43, 43, 37, 41, 41, 37 = 280
        Scottie Barnes: 32.5, 35.5, 29.5, 39, 36, 37, 35 = 244.5

Yes and no. There is definitely a gambling component in the draft. There is also risk analysis. There is also what you see in work outs and your draft process. If you are following a guy since he was 14.... and you know if he works hard or not. You know if he has the ability to improve or not or work on weaknessses. That is a ton more than the average person. You also see flashes of it when they are able to make certain reads in college. Also in general you have the ability to have a system of development. So it is a crap shoot and yet there can still be strategy. We got lucky moving up in the draft but also we got lucky by being bad enough last year where we would have been in the top 8 and likely gotten one of the top guys that we have seen thus far.

The early part of the draft is when you can draft floor guys where they will likely at worst be a blue chip prospect who will be a rotational guy. If your bench sucked like ours did last year. Those picks in the 10-15 range can stock the cupboards back up.
Of course I forgot to mention that Masai is just god like

With all of his offensive stuff, he's still learning what he's going to do," Nurse said of Barnes. "Seventeen shots in a game are quite a few, and I love it, but they're not enough."
            we will find out soon

Barnes seem is just waiting to fully explode and be the Alpha with the backing of his Coach and soon to be his surrogate dad (move over Van Vleet)

            • I think we can safely say that the so called offseason grades given by many "experts" of a "B" or "B-" just went up to A-.

If you get a guy in a draft like Barnes who seems to already be a big contributing factor right away and still have lots of room to grow, you have hit the jackpot. Getting Banton who at least defensively is a solid backup PG and on occasions can find ways to score in spurts seems to almost be the cherry on top thus far.

Just get Siakam back in there and this team is cooking with gas.

Scotties game now is waaayyy different then his play at Florida State. This year I tried to watch full games instead of just highlights, and I didn't see a superstar, which honestly he just has to add a few consistent things to his game to be one.

If you guys have time and want to see young Scottie fo watch some of his games on Youtube.
I saw maybe one game in the tournament and he was one of the worst players on the floor.

The thing the good pro scouts and evaluators have is the ability to project with these guys and understand how they will translate to the next level. It’s impossible to do that for 99.9% of fans and media analysts cause we lack both the experience and information.

Agreed. Watching Scottie, you can tell his IQ is sky high, he knows how to play at his pace and his overall feel for the game is there even if his skills weren't.

That along with his personality and willingness to get better is why the Raptors chose him over Suggs.

                  • The guy is an obvious phenom now. The guy adding colour on the Pacers' broadcast said "wow, Scottie Barnes" at least 10 times.

                    • Scottie is definitely looking like our Tim Duncan - a guy that rewards a good team for (somewhat ethically) tanking at just the right time, catapulting that team right back out of the lottery and into a foundational contention.

Makes it that much more impressive that he managed to exceed Damon's six game total with 35.5 less minutes of playing time.

I can't remember who wrote it. I think it was Vecenie who said after the draft that Barnes is a zero level scorer. LOL.
He flat out admitted he was wrong after the Boston game

Yep, seems like he's going to have plenty of opportunity to increase his usage. Nurse's eyes light up talking about him. Right now it seems that the sky is the limit for Scottie. Cleary Nurse wants to see if he can stay efficient with more usage. Right now I trust this rookie on offence more than any other player on the roster.

                            • If Nurse wants Scottie taking more than 17 shots, then he considers him the number one option. Top players in this league are anywhere from 17-20, it's pretty hard to have multiple guys taking that many. That's a huge statement considering there 92 shots going around.

                              • That statement by Nurse could have a bigger implication down the road especially if there is no chemistry between Siakam and Barnes. If Barnes’ production dips as a result of Siakam’s inclusion to the team and eventually may have a negative effect, it will be an interesting trade deadline situation.
