Yeah, that's my point. Not sure why T-Rex had Suggs ranked 4th or even 5th... or maybe this year's rookie class is just that bad.9 time first team all-RR, First Ballot Hall of Forum

I saw this interview shortly after the draft. And there are some unique insights here that didn't strike me as forcefully at the time. After watching Scottie in action, it is well worth watching again for Thorpe's great take on Scottie's game. Hearing again about how his college coaching staff talked about how excited they were that he was coming to their school, and describing him as a cross between Pippin and Magic rung a bell. And hearing Thorpe talk about Scottie having some Kawhi in him is music to my ears.
The other thing that struck me that didn't at the time was how, for the season Scottie played in college, the guys went to formal practices and games, and then were chased out of the gym so the cleaners could come in, so the players didn't have opportunity to get shots up during their off times. Thorpe predicted that in the loosened restrictions during the spring/summer of 2021 Scottie would be living in the gym and as much as promised that Scottie would surprise people with his improved shot.

I was aware that the Vid was dated ... but thought I'd post it for it's prescience/tic content including the fact that Thorpe has a relatively close relationship with Masai ... so ... there may have been a phone call or two between them before the draft ? Just musing.

He's SIGNIFICANTLY further along than I would have guessed at this point though. And he's been significantly better than he looked in NCAA.

Would be neat if the Raps would utilize Scottie's passing ability from the elbow, a bit like Jokic, to spice up the half-court O. Here's a good article on that. Scottie is a threat to explode to the rim in a few strides from that distance, so there's that added dimension.

Kinda worried after the last 2 games that we arn't going to give Scottie enough opportunity to grow with a full line-up. Its pretty blatant he hasn't touched the ball enough.. Both games were losses so really no excuse to say "well the teams rolling, he's young gotta learn on the fly and get his on broken plays/ rebounds".
I think we have pretty simple ways to get him more involved. Give 3-4 of those post up type plays we run for O.G to scottie. He is good out of the post and a willing passer so it is a win-win for everyone. And increase the amount he brings the ball up. He can step in a mid-range, try to catch his defender off guard and drive. If thats not there he can swing and reset to pascal or fred to run a set.
There were way to many strings of possessions where scottie was frozen out, that cant happen when you have such a dynamic player in your repertoire. To be the champs you got to beat the champs

Someone has to step back and who that be is a million dollar question.
The push back from some, Raptors will have so much firepower when Siakam is back.. but that is not the case IMO. There is only 1 ball and an NBA team has only a number of possessions, I think the average is 70.
Scottie being a dynamic player as you just stated is being exploited minimally in the two losses while he was maximize well in those wins.
IMO and I strongly believed for this team to be really successful is for Van Vleet to step back. No matter what Nurse says publicly about his goal and encouragement for Scottie to increased his shots….that cannot be translated on the court without the full participation of his lead guard.
Van Vleet has to sacrifice, this ain’t his contract year. He can be a great complementary player to Scottie if he allows himself to be. The #i got us mentality should be thrown out in the trash
