yeah that notion is silly. I am tired of hearing it. They are giving the man every thing he can handle and then some.

Scottie averaged 12.7 fga.
I want Scottie to average 15-16 as well.#FRAUD VanVleet

Something I noticed last game was Fred getting some nice catch and shoot 3pt opportunities via some off ball action. Nice to see. We need to continue to exploit our shooting abilities in this manner. We have the personnel for it, and because we lack a good PnR game, it’s a wrinkle that can produce some good looks for our shooters. The drive and kick game isn’t going to produce the quality of set shots consistently enough to be competitive night in and night out.

I disagree…Vince Carter averaged 15.3 field goal attempts during his Rookie Year.

We have much more scoring punch than that team did. Fred and Pascal are 20 ppg guys, even Trent Jr. is better than Chrisite was. T-Mac was not even putting up 10 ppg that year.Twitter @WJ_FINDLAY

so not the siakam lowry pick and roll then
Siakam's game has had two clear-cut phases: pre-Kawhi and post Kawhi. Siakam's pre-Kawhi phase (up to and including the year he was here), involved rim running, dunks, catch-and-shoot corner tress, no midrange fadeways, and beautiful and fast spin-moves downhill. His post Kawhi phase (current one), is static isos, post-ups, midranges, and off-dribble 3's.
Siakam moved from a fast, target end-point of the offence, to a slower offence initiator (by attracting doubles in the mid-post and finishing or passing out of there). Neither phase featured him on a pick and roll very much unfortunately.
The most solid and productive pnr's this team has seen in recent years was the Lowry-Ibaka pnr, and the Lowry-JV pnr. There was typically a high % shot coming out of that, either inside, outside, or from a wing shooter.
A Scottie-Siakam pnr now that both seem to be getting their 3pt% up, (with Fred and OG as outlet shooters), could be incredibly disruptive and deadly to opposing D's. They're both great near the rim and midrange, confident from 3, fast, tall (can see over the defence), and great passers. Since we drafted Scottie, l've considered this THE best potential engine to our half-court defence in a post-lowry world.
They're not running that though, right now the half-court is Siakam and OG's isos, the occasional Fred and Trent individual brilliance, and Scottie somehow getting enough opportunistic buckets without any real set plays. Hopefully after they develop more chemistry they'll play more synergistically

Question is why do you see it and Nurse don't.
Or won't.
Scottie is a rookie, so they want him go through the rookie motions, learn the system and be aggressive 1-on-1 when he gets the chance.
They also want Fred initiating the offence, he's seen as Lowry's heir, even though they're actually different players. Fred would be one of the best catch-and- shoot players in this league, and is crafty enough to keep the opposing defence chasing by taking to the rim once lanes are open, after primary actions put the defence on scramble mode and space is created for him. They want the ball in his hands from the beginning of the possession though, driving and kicking plus the occasional 3 from the logo.

Basically because of the pecking order that always artificially influences things. They want Siakam to be 'the man', and be able to iso against set defences. Has been like that since Kawhi left. Neutered his MIP game, but we needed "the man" so it still goes to him in the clutch on slow iso's.

In Vince's rookie year we had a sophomore Tracy McGrady, Doug Christie, Boogie Williams, Charles Oakley and and some other end of career guys like Dee Brown and Kevin Willis. Who on that roster was going to get shots up?

This is true. Pecking order, seniority, whatever you want to call it. It happens all the time in sports. LeBron James back in his rookie year had to defer to Ricky Davis. Doesn't mean Davis > LeBron. But like inthepaint said - pecking order.
--Scottie is a naturally great passer with very good court vision, and can hit from the paint and midrange, and now 3. He has a good handle, and could be great on the pnr either as a handler or the roller/popper. Foundational stuff he could build on.
--Siakam, can also pass well, pop to the 3, and hit from the midrange and paint (spinning around his defender), often attracting help, which means we'd have a C or a wing open in the corner (Fred or OG, both deadly from there), allowing us to hit lots of corner 3's like everyone else does when they play us.
if these two ran the pnr properly (which actual good screens, not rushed half-ass picks), I'm sure they'd develop some pocket passes and even lobs, as well as midrange pops. They're both big wing players who are also very fast, so there'd be the potential for a lot of mismatches there to be exploited.
--Fred is an outstanding distance shooter, that can also take it inside if they chase him off the line, to either finish it or continue passing it to find an even better shot. OG in his own way, the same. Me personally I'm always looking forward when Dalano comes and Fred is still in, cuz that means Fred is off the ball, so I know he'll rack it up from deep.
Without the pecking order, I see one potentially great offence initiator is Scottie and 3 excellent finishers after some space is created for them in Fred, OG and Siakam (their roles in the championship run). Put a standard Kirkland-brand rim protector C there to round up the five and you're very competitive, especially if they also get back to basics on defence (these guys are all already naturally great 1-on-1 and team defenders without any special schemes)
