  • So this is the second mass infection for Les Raptors in two years.
Last year was in Tampa and it pretty much cemented their southerly trajectory as they went 1-16 or something like that after the team went down to DeltaCovid. So this year with OmicronCovid they go down again....
Tampa you could say was unlucky.. but two years in a row... ??
Wonder who the party animal is..
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

      • Out of all the players signed for 10 days, I hope DJ Wilson can become a useful 3rd string centre (yes I know he is a PF) that can stay here long terms.

With Birch lingering knee injury & Precious tendinitis that keeps on flaring up from time to time, we need more stability at the center position. When both of our bigs out, usually it means an L by the end of the night.

I have agreed and stated myself that we may be panicking a bit too much before knowing the data but let's not jump the other way too much just yet. It isn't the common cold you gotta stop saying that.

                  The government and the media.

What's funny is how the flu mysteriously vanished last year. Lol
what a load of crap is that???
How can an annual virus vanish just like that?

Coz only the hysterics would get the vax.
                    and I'm not even anti-mask/vax.

He simply asked if you read it. Why the hostility? I mean you can react how you want but why?

Also the flu didn't vanish it just isn't the main story in the news for a number of reasons.

                      https://www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n2514

Again I remain hopeful but its still very early on. I have said this about every variant. Including the original. I have always suggested people not panic. Wait. Gather information then make their decision.

I actually have to agree there are a ton of people who are anti-vax who will let you know. It is practically the new version of being a vegan at this point There are also a ton of people who are antivax that pretend to be vaccine-hesitant and are suggesting that they will just wait. There are SOME people who at this point are vaccine-hesitant but they are in the minority of people who are not vaccinated at this point.

Plenty of grifters exist. Plenty of people who are just frustrated. What I have noticed is you specifically keep bringing this up even though most of us want to talk about something else. Also while the reporting of NBC may or may not be good I would always suggest citing the actually reported studies from scientific journals if at all possible They are peer-reviewed. NBC is not. Not trying to say its right or wrong but there is a difference. I am assuming that I don't have to explain scientific method at this point.

From your actual article it states this:
"It may be a more mild variant but we just don't know yet. It's too soon," said Dr. Isaac Bogoch, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Toronto. Right now, "if you're vaccinated, chances are you're going to have a milder course," he said.

This is in line with what I specifically have stated several times. The reason being? Different populations can sometimes have naturally built-in immunity to certain variants more than others. Even on a regional basis. This isn't a reason to vaccinate or not vaccinate those reasons (for obvious reasons).

                      Some more quotes:

"Experts say it's still too premature to draw any conclusions."

"We're not out of the woods yet," John Moore, a professor of microbiology and immunology at the Weill Cornell Medical College, said, noting that the report was "encouraging."

"Only four cases were aged over 65, while 29 were under 40. Young people generally have milder infections, whatever the variant," that same person went on to say "So we don't yet know what omicron might do in much older and more vulnerable populations."

BTW I hate how this article by NBC talks about published information but doesn't link it.

Flu numbers from what I have seen do seem to be better but that may be in part because of the masking and other policies put in place individuals washing their hands more than usual all adding up to be more effective at preventing flu vs preventing transmission. Especially since we aren't using surgical masks or n95's on a widespread basis.

But these are all correlations for the most part and not necessarily causations.

One of the reasons why the vaccine has remained as a solid option for SARS-CoV-2 is that it, as a virus, low mutation rate on as a result of it containing proofreading mechanisms as a part of its genetic code. Not all viruses have that. Influenza has a much higher mutation rate since it lacks this.

You keep making leaps and you keep bringing up the cold and flu ... which are also two different things from one another.

If you want to talk about the virus that is fine but stay on topic at least.

I feel like you enjoy discussing this more than others.

i sent you the numbers between deaths from the flu and covid. Theres a big difference but your still going on about it. Dont be so uh...hysterical

                            • Also his nbc link is a few weeks old, a lot has happened since then. But even if the nbc numbers were true 1/43 hospitalized would mean 232 in ontario would be hospitalized from today since it was almost 10,000 infections yesterday. 232 to the hospital. But kagemusha dont care he too cool to care 😜
