  • Fred will likely get something like this as well next season as Brogdon was his comp when he got his last extension.

        • Interesting... didn't one of the other staff contribute to the Nate slander by saying he limited access to Nick Nurse?

          • "That behavior seems to have continued in Toronto. One league source compared the dynamic to Bjorkgren acting like a politician's chief of staff, at points preventing other coaches and Toronto's players from holding conversations with Nurse that did not go through Bjorkgren first.

"He would do things like police the communication about the team schedule on a road trip and when other people got a hold of it, so he was in control," said the person with knowledge of the situation.

"It's one thing if the head coach designates his lead assistant as a person to delegate communication, as a means to organize your business. It's another when that person seems to be doing it without the head coach's direction," said the aforementioned assistant general manager. "

              • Nurse and Masai both rallied around Nate at the time this ll came out, who knows how much was fictitious. He always seemed like a good dude, and Fred Van Vleet loves him.

                • It's funny how hush-hush the whole "Nate back to Toronto" has been l. They let him in through back door type shit lol

According to the Pacers report... Nate had a bit of a two-faced personality, i.e., buddy-buddy around the players & management, but extremely harsh to the lower coaching staff and support personnel. Not sure what or who to believe here, but it was odd that Jama & Sergio left right after Nate got fired by the Pacers. If they didn't like Nate then they probably suspected, correctly, that Nate was coming back to the Raptors one way or another to reclaim his position as Nurse's right hand man. That said, even if Nate is a Jekyll & Hyde d*ckhead, that worked for us in the past. lol.

The other thing too is, these things tend to be a bit different the second time around. He left, didn't work out there; org probably said "fine, we'll take you back but we want all the drama, baggage and attitude (if any) out the window for a clean slate start". He probably wanted that too. The org wants him for his basketball and player development knowledge, but I'd imagine it came with "you gotta take it down a notch" pep talk. It makes sense this was a humble and hushed re-entrance, raptors are about as anti-drama and do-your-laundry-quietly as it gets in the league.

Pretty sure it's an external source, not a Raptors source.

Now, the "person with knowledge" is another source and the implication is it's a Raps source but it might not be, might be an ex-player or something.

Yes, Fred is eligible for something like this next summer. Whether he wants that or not is not clear, I imagine the Raps would have been happy to give him a long term deal but he took the 3+1, he will likely wait for FA.

3 years and a raptors championship later and this dude still doesn't get masai did was best for the team, and his job.

If demar didn't wanna be traded he probably should have shown progression against the cavs for 3 years and not regression. We were getting further away it felt like, playoff wise.

A discussion about going forward together over dinner isn't a no trade clause. Kawhi Leonard became possible. End of story.
