It's every major story right now in the NBA and NHL. How many teams right now can't put a proper team on the court? Wild stuff given everything that has transpired up until now. Silver says they're going to plow through, which will hopefully put some of it to rest and get the focus back on the games.

It's the holiday season anyway.
People can live without basketball.
If regular employers have holiday breaks, why not these athletes. Even only for now.

I have a feeling that most of the stars will miraculously be back for those Xmas games, unless injured and/or Covid protocols will be revised.

Well Adam Silver did say they are thinking about cutting the COVID protocols from 10 days to 5 days.

I know. But it means that 20 percent of the population is extremly immune compromised??? If this was going to be a huge hospital over load issue we would have seen it with a population of 20% Aids

You make a good point but it’s 20% with HIV. AIDS is a lot worse than HIV.

Because there's no guaranteed gain and tremendous realized loss. You could shut down for 2 weeks and come back with more guys in protocol - there's no way to know. They are going to change the protocols like the NFL has done. Teams will have to comply with the testing to cross into Canada but a lot will simply leave their stars at home to avoid any issues and the world will continue on...

NBA postponed the Nets/Blazers game tomorrow because Nets only have 8 players available. Raptors on the other hand only have 5-6 regulars available tonight.
