Rondo likely heading to Cleveland in a trade per Shams and Woj. Rondo only makes the vet minimum, so much easier to acquire than Dragic. Lakers probably get a 2nd rounder or something in return.

Blame the Raptors. We didn't have to rush Banton back... he looked out of shape, so we could have held him out due to conditioning, which would have been an automatic cancellation & re-sched. That was an easy way out, if Raps wanted to.

So he should hopefully already have his conditioning in line by then.

Yeah, probably didn’t want to have a second straight cancelled game on the road and decided just to suck it up. Could have easily held Banton out due to conditioning.

If Raptors wanted him to play, he would have or there would be more drama around it. Looks to me Raptors are okay with letting him do his own thing as they figure out what to do with his contract.

How is that even legal in the CBA? Like a dude under contract with one team using the practice facility of another? Most of the tamper stuff is just BS gonna happen anyways, NBA does it to save face. But this seems a real conflict of interest. What if dragic gets hurts practicing in the Miami heat facility while getting paid by the raptors? He gonna come back and use Alex Mckenknie for rehab?

I think this kind of stuff is common now in the NBA.

Iggy never played for Memphis all season.
Horford was shut down last year with OKC.
Kemba as well with OKC.
Wall with Houston right now.

Overpaid vets that don't fit with what a team is doing will be shelved until an opportunity comes. If he wants to work out in Toronto, Miami, LA, Slovenia, or Japan it doesn't really matter. He's not really a Raptor anymore. Just a contract on the books.
