How is that even legal in the CBA? Like a dude under contract with one team using the practice facility of another? Most of the tamper stuff is just BS gonna happen anyways, NBA does it to save face. But this seems a real conflict of interest. What if dragic gets hurts practicing in the Miami heat facility while getting paid by the raptors? He gonna come back and use Alex Mckenknie for rehab?
shrug. dragic went home didnt he? and im assuming he still lives in miami. not a big deal.

      It is a big deal.
Why would a team allow a player from another team to use their facility?

        • Don't care what Derozan is doing now. He didn't show up against Lebron. That's still the truth.

I was just going to say, even if it is true thst he's playing at higher level now, he wasn't for us and he wasn't at that level in the playoffs. And time will tell if he can perform there at this same level.

              Everyone pay attention.

Miami could have signed Lowry to his current contract outright. No sign and trade needed. We had ZERO leverage. None. Nada. Zilch. They gave us Precious in exchange for taking on Dragic, not for Lowry, because they didn't need us to get Lowry. Us taking Dragic allowed them to resign some bench guys and they didn't like Precious so were fine giving us him for the extra cap space. They didn't really trade for Lowry, they had the cap space already.

This has been said a bazillion times but obviously a lot of people are still unaware.

It's better for us that Dragic is staying healthy and in shape ready to be dealt if possible. Otherwise we are gonna buy him out at a big discount at the deadline to get below the tax. We don't need him here. We don't want him here. So stop freaking out about Dragic.

Some team is gonna have PG issues before the deadline and we may be able to get something for Dragic. We don't want him playing and getting hurt or covid. Him staying in shape in Miami is GOOD!

              Rant over.
All true, he was a free agent in the summer and the team that wanted him had the space to sign him. That takes away all the leverage. We will likely never know the exact offers and teams involved, but at the trade deadline though, he was the most coveted piece that could realistically be moved, and the team had control there. The team chose to not move him though, allowing him to finish the season here (even though we were tanking), as later we learned this was what Lowry wanted: finish the season here (and not be moved at the deadline to Miami or elsewhere), then go to Miami after the season.

None of that has anything to do with what Dragic is doing, and I agree with you in there's no reason to "freak-out", and this is actually a positive given the circumstances: he's not on the team but he's our asset; so between sitting around somewhere, playing here as a mutually poor fit exposed to injury/covid protocol,, and actually taking care of his body away from the team he's not on, the latter is actually the best way to go.

I don’t think that’s correct. IIRC, at the time if the Heat renounced Dragic, Iggy, Dipo, etc… they would only generate about 23M in cap space to sign Lowry outright. We know Lowry cared a lot about the money. They would have also had to renounce Duncan Robinson to get Lowry to the 30M+ number he was looking for. We did Lowry and the Heat a favor, which of course depends upon how Precious pans out.

Eitehr way we did them a favor but we got precious out of it which isn't bad I wanted a second rounder as well that would have been nice.

Scouts, Executives and all the analytic nerds.

These clowns were saying that the Bulls should've kept Thaddeus Young because 1. Young's the better player and 2. Young's a better fit than DD.

                      Lol.

Better player? Never was, even before this season. Better fit with Lavine, Lonzo and Vucevic? Maybe.

You'd be lying if you thought Derozan would be having a season like this compared to last season. Its a pleasant surprise for sure, but I doubt Bulls fans expected this when they signed him.

Although Derozan was weirdly never liked. "82nd ranked player"...

                        • Another thing about DeRozan, him playing in Chicago and playing the way he's playing will improve his HOF stock. When you play for a big market/iconic team like Chicago you're going to have more eyes on you. A Bulls writer already DeRozan and HOF a couple of weeks ago lol.

I'm pretty sure he's going to be 1st team ALL NBA after this season. 5x all star. Olympic Gold. He'll easily finish with more than 20,000 points. He might even hit 25,000. Maybe a couple more All star selections and ALL NBA selections. That's a hall of famer.

They could have worked with Robinson's cap hold, like we could have with GTJr to get that max space to get Lowry. Essentially making Robinson a UFA by waiving the QO, but get the tiny cap hold.. and then resigning Robinson using his bird rights after they signed Lowry. So they didn't have to use a S&T to get him.

Haven't followed DeRozan much this season, but I'm curious if anyone has done a comparison of his numbers this year to when he was with the Raps. Is he playing that much better or is it that he's getting more media attention playing for a big city team from the U.S.?

His TS% has improved since he left. He's become a much better playmaker. And this season (unlike any season, even ones in San Antonio) his on/off numbers are insane. The Bulls are a lottery team when he's on the bench basically.
