  • Bill Simmons had the re-draftables draft of class of 2006 and Lowry came in 1st . How ironic is the Raptors did have the 1st overall pick but picked Bargnani .

Yeah I heard some of that podcast as well. Only one of the guys picked Lowry first.. the other two (including Bill) would have taken him second after Aldridge. Lowry's issue was that he wasn't that great early on in his career. The first 8-9 years weren't star caliber years at all. But he made up for it in his later years. And the championship really helps.

I still think we should have taken Roy even though he only played about 4-5 years. He and Bosh together would have been so much fun.

I was hoping for Roy or Gay. Bargnani was a bad pick even before hindsight.

They did talk about Rudy Gay and didn't mention how the Raptors season took off after Rudy Gay was traded … They did mention how the Grizz had
their best success after trading Rudy Gay .

        • Too lazy to look up the Everything Danny Green thread so I'll plunk this here. Our boy DG just got engaged. It's on TMZ so must be true:

              • Report: Hawks hire Landry Fields as assistant general manager
                https://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article...neral-manager/

He was the GM of the Spur's G-League team. Had no idea he was doing front office work like that. Good for him.

It's too bad he got the yips after he got hurt and never recovered.

Chris Bosh felt hurt when Lebron left ? The guy did the same thing to his Raptor team mates ...
Also about Heat culture ? Last series against the Spurs the Heat lost by an avg of 18 pts in
last 3 games and Bosh avg 11 points a game .. Lebron left cause one of his big 3 played like
                  an average big man ..

bron hated more in Miami after 2 chips, Bosh still mainly liked in Toronto after nothing but loyalty

                    • Lebron walking out of Miami that offseason was one of his smartest moves. In hindsight, he left nothing on the table but two rapidly declining teammates. Wade played 62 games the next season and his health and production starting declining year over year from that point on. Bosh played 44 games then 53 games and was out of the league. The Heat weren't peaking again.

lebron has always known to get out when the gettin's good.

Prime Wade and sidekick Bosh ready to team up after the Celtics showed the way? He's in
Kyrie and klove .... back to Cleveland
The Brow available .... off to la la land

Each of Wade, Bosh and lebron colluded to sign for less than $20M per year ($110.1M over 6 years); a huge discount for both Wade and lebron. Later, when they had trouble keeping Udonis Haslem under the salary cap, Wade gave up $1.5M of his salary and lebron/Bosh each $1M in order to retain him. Most fans don't even know this. It shouldn't even be legal imo and it opens up payback later for "consulting" or pay for personal services/endorsements. pay off the books, in a tax free jurisdiction etc. But this is what happens when your endorsements outstrip your pay cheque.

Bosh really didn't sacrifice anything. He got to play with 2 of the best in their prime and made as much as they did minus endorsements. Everyone knew Bosh was the Ringo but lebron arranged to get him paid so his ego was intact. "Not 1 not 2 not 3 not 4" never happened though as lebron once again jumped ship to greener pastures.

Manufactured teams suck and it's just another reason why lebron will never be GOAT

Ok but why do you want Giannis to sign with Raptors if you don't like manufactured teams? He would be teaming up and leaving Super Max in order to join Raptors.

It's true that Bosh, Wade and LBJ all took sub-max deals to be able to sign in the same place. It's a bit of a stretch to call it a huge discount. Summer 2010 the cap was 58M. The max salary (for a 7-9 year vet like they all were) was therefore $16.3M. They signed for a starting salary of 14.5M. Wade signed for 14.2M. So, yes, a discount, but let's not pretend it was some sort of huge discount. They still signed for about 90% of the max.

And that reduction was the reduced salary they took to fit Haslem. There wasn't some second renegotiation.
