Raps aren't tanking this year, so I think it's safe to say this will be the norm for FVV. I just hope they can find more minutes for Delano, he needs that opportunity to develop.
I totally agree, is no way a tanking team….unless a major setback in someone’s health like an injury would start those wheels rolling again….why I think Nurse is just being an idiot for playing Van Vleet high minutes with very minimal positive impact to the team long term but just the other way around especially when he pop his knee or ankle due too much wear and tear.

Thibs didn’t get anywhere running Derrick Rose into the ground. D.Rose was so talented however and he got a personal accolade around the league. For sure, not with this player.

Yeah…fascinating to watch his arc through the Mavs organization

While one of the most dynamic guard in the league is averaging 33 minutes per game (5 less minutes), one of the top BPM performers who just scored 50 points tonight, very efficient shooting at 50% fg and close to 50% 3point fg, 10 assists and 7 rebs. Only time you categorize a player as Elite. The dude is carrying his team on his back with less talented complementary players around him. He impacts the game differently than others yet allowing others to be great.

Nurse is the new Thibs….but worse, he is squashing the face of his lead guard into the ground…unlike the D.Rose then who was elite, Van Vleet ain’t. Fred Van Vleet has limitations, he is a complementary player, squeezing every pulp off of him will not result to winning but just hindering development of others.

    Injuries is real

And those are a hard 38.8 mins he's playing. Raps put a lot of energy into defense, so we might start seeing more loses like the one against the Cavs where the guys just can't close due to being tired.

I have a disgusting trend Nick Nurse is doing….

Van Vleet averaging 38.8 minutes per game. leading the league in minutes played

Dalano has already proven that he is more than reliable and more than capable to eat on those minutes.

Raps won the FG attempt battle again (TOR 87 - BRK 79), but lost the rebounding and turnover stats. Mostly just came down to not being able to keep Brooklyn's FG% down.

Chalk it up to Siakam's return throwing guys off a bit? Alvin mentioned a couple times during the game that the defense looked off and guys were either slow rotating or not rotation at all.
The rotations aren't automatic at this point. I noticed Siakim yesterday, and Gary and Precious getting caught in no man's land several times that lead to individual Net players standing all alone under the basket. Siakim needs to get caught up on the rotation responsibilities. He gets an absolute pass. Gary and Precious need more time. If they keep this system up, by mid season that stuff will be almost automatic. By the end of the season it will be. A lot of opposing teams are going to struggle getting shots off.

Nick needs to come up with a counter to opponents players switching their cover to Fred. Should be an automatic switch back when Fred is faced with a 7 footer, though he does a very good job.

I think this is the only thread that is kind of related. This is not a new trend but I feel like Raptors are attempting a lot of more long twos. This is just eye test for now. But I feel like a lot more players are given a green light to shoot long twos.
For better or worse it's the shot that's been available to them. Our half court-offence doesn't generate much spot up 3's, or bigs rolling to the basket (or popping). It's Fred, Trent, OG and Barnes probing around the FT line and hosting from there. That's alright cuz all these guys are comfortable with that shot now, but they need something else other than dribble-handoffs in the perimeter and OG iso's in order to get the opposing defence chasing more often.

Raps won the FG attempt stat again in their last game against Washington (88-78 for the good guys). Washington won the rebound battle though. I wonder if Nurse would experiment with both Achiuwa and Birch in the line up in small stints to see if there is a worthwhile impact on rebounds. Doubt it with both Scottie and Siakam returning soon, but it's early in the season so a good time to try these things out.

You know there's a whole lot more to just getting down to defensive stance.
If it's that simple, why isn't every team successful on defense?
Of course. It's the basics, I think I alluded to that.

One thing I hated about Casey's defense was this bend but don't break attitude. Nah we don't bend anymore.

    Pause.
