Pretty much. He's likely not going to move the needle much, but Raps just need a guy that can help hold the fort so the starters can get some rest.

If that's the case, I'm surprised the Raps haven't been connected to Nembhard. If they can buy a second 2nd rounder, he probably deserves a look
One of the great truisms of the NBA draft process is that if a player is good, teams and scouts are going to find them.
And if proof was ever needed of that, all it takes is a look at a handful of Canadians who are deep into the weeding-out process that teams hope will separate prospects from suspects heading into next month’s draft.
A high school sensation. Much-hyped collegians. Well-travelled but still quite young “veterans.” Players who accept all challenges while trying to prove themselves, and others who like to create a bit of mystery and intrigue.
And a year after only two Canadians were selected — Joshua Primo by San Antonio with the No. 12 pick, and Dalano Banton to the Raptors at No. 46 — there’s a likelihood that five will hear their names called on June 23 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
Shaedon Sharpe of London, Montreal’s Ben Mathurin, Toronto’s Leonard Miller, Mississauga’s Caleb Houstan and Aurora’s Andrew Nembhard have all worked their way to the forefront of draft discussions now that the NBA’s combine is winding up in Chicago.
“There’s a possibility all five go in the first round,” Toronto-based scout Wes Brown said. “I will say all five will get drafted, for sure, and I would even say all five will get drafted in the top 40.”

Maybe they have connected with him but not made it public. He had an impressive showing during the combine scrimmage, but his size or lack of it probably is hurting his stock a bit. Definitely looks like a guy that can play from day one though.
I'm really looking at plug and play, older rookies. I'm just not seeing a lot of potential stars in the draft. If the Raps were able to deepen their bench and maybe grab one wing with potential (from the draft, trade, FA or whatever) I would consider the offseason a success.

Yeah, I think if they can find a big wing they have to go for it. But I like Nembhard as a guy they could get later in the second, who they can just plug and play. He would be the tallest PG on the Raps, depending on what you consider Scottie or Banton, but he is small. I also hope they look at someone like Isaiah Mobley if he goes undrafted.

Raps went with a really tight rotation last season to the point of being stubborn. I just don't see a really green C getting any minutes. Barnes was clearly ahead of the game and had high IQ, Kamagate isn't near that level yet.

Why would you think any of these (2nd round) prospects will get significant minutes as a rookie on a Raps team looking to move toward contention? What's wrong with starting any of these guys almost exclusively with the 905?

Significant might be a stretch, but I can't imagine they go another season running Fred into the ground. There's hope that Flynn is ready to step up in what might be a make or break season for him with the Raps, but Nurse didn't show a lot of confidence in him or Banton in the last 3 quarters of the season. And Raps have been interviewing guards I think exclusively so I think they want a player that can contribute a few guard minutes.
