More like a Justin Lewis and he can make a shot.

      • I'd love to some how move up and get Tari Eason. He's going to be one of the best guys from this draft IMO. One of those role players that could turn into a stud like Kawhi or Jimmy Butler.

Big NO to drafting a center and definitely no to Patrick Baldwin Jr.
Reminds me too much of Trey Lyles where he teases you with versality but lacks the focus to make an impact throughout the game (I hope he proves me wrong).

Masai/Bobby/Tolzman's BPA is often quite different that mock consensus BPA, or even RR consensus BPA.

Never forget that... when people blow a gasket on draft night, right after the pick.
Will it be a Bruno or a Scotty though?
Much harder to hit on it at 33 ....

Ironically enough the year Bruno was selected at 20th there were at least 10 NBA players selected after him that ended up being a good rotational pieces.

              #23- Rodney Hood
              #25 - Capela
              #27- Bogdanovic' (Atlanta)
              #30 - Kyle Anderson
              #33- Joe Harris
              #38- Dinwiddie
              #39- Jerami Grant
              #41- Jokic
              #45 - Dwight Powell
              #46- Jordan Clarkson

This draft has a bit of the 2014 vibe as lots of players after the lottery are sliding and moving up all the time. Lets hope the Raptors find their steal somewhere when their pick arrives.

Yep anybody other than Hood (who was never the same after his injury) could theoretically find a spot on a Raptors roster today.

                      • Former NBA forward Caleb Swanigan died on Monday night, according to an announcement from his alma mater of Purdue (Twitter link). Swanigan was 25 years old.

Swanigan was someone that a number of posters on this board advocated for the Raptors to draft in 2017 prior to OG dropping on draft night

I think they learned their lesson from the Bruno pick. We'll get a nice rotation piece at 33, not a mystery guy who has never played real competition before.

Based on what we now know about Masai's "type", if that draft is held today, they would reach for Jerami Grant or Kyle Anderson.

The problem with the Bruno pick was the huge language barrier and the fact that he was incredibly young and immature. They really didn't have a way of getting to know Bruno's character, work ethic and his potential to absorb BBIQ. I think they do a better job of sniffing out those intangibles with the workouts and background checks.

Actually getting a mystery guy is actually a good thing IF they've gotten a look at him in their gym and have him pass their tests.

With the Bruno pick they never gotten a chance to see them in Toronto but hoodwinked to come to Brazil and see him shooting at an empty gym (lol) and also the Flynn pick either (cause of the first year of Covid). These two drafts have been the only bad one's in Masai tenure (even if Flynn manages to be a somewhat competent piece next season the fact that Desmond Bane was picked next on the draft board stings).

The Bruno pick was just a wild stab at him potentially becoming a superstar.
