If I had to guess (and it's just a guess) Dragic is using the opportunity to spend extended time with his family over the holiday season, which the normal demands of the NBA schedule wouldn't accomodate.

His eldest is 8, so still exciting for the kids
This is a good guess. He isn't playing at all, probably just let him spend the holidays with his family instead of sitting at the end of the bench.

          why challenge this early?
why is later necessarily better again? Couldn’t a successful challenge have a bigger overall (butterfly) effect earlier in the game?

Then, reversing an and-one is about as good value as it gets. You take (maybe) 3 points away, get the ball back, keep a foul off your player, and keep your team out of the bonus that much longer.

Plenty of times we've seen Nurse hold a challenge till near the end of the game and use the challenge on a questionable call that goes unsuccessful. That one was pretty clear, take the successful challenge.

Yeah, it certainly worked well out to send us on a run tonight and prevent us going down big.

But just cause Nick is terrible at choosing the right plays to challenge in crunch time doesn't mean there aren't plenty of other calls where it could be successfully applied.

In Nick's case, certainly better to take the sure thing.

Be nice if he could become excellent at using them in the late stages though, when it could really decide the game for once and all.

                        I take your point though!

Watch yuta guard Tatum off ball. He stopped Tatum from being able to get the ball in the post all possession when that's what the C were looking for

Just take Barnes out of the game. He's not really doing anythign out there. He's too passive.

How can he be passive when his stuck in the corner and can't get the ball, call a play for him.
                              Get him going..
