  • 2022 NBA Trade Deadline (Feb 10th)

It's less than a month away and the trade posts are starting to percolate. Whether it's the year long saga of a Philly point guard or the latest tweets suggesting the Clips are not hungry enough for Serge, there are things to talk about.
Raps are in an odd spot. We have a starting five (fred/gary/og/pascal/scottie) that are all relatively young and have varying degrees of upside. If we are moving any of them in a trade it would be huge. So maybe we want to move on the margins. But who on this roster would we actually give up (that someone else wants)? Boucher has been a useful piece as of late and we have his Bird rights.
So maybe we won't do anything.
But we probably will because Dragic.
    Have at it.
Here's a primer from the good folks at ESPN

--Shop boucher, fynn and dragic for a depth piece that can space the floor.
--Leave the 5 starters alone (exception to this is Siakam for KAT straight up)
--Absorb stale contracts with picks if you can and don't give up any FRP's, we're rebuilding.
    --Draft well next year

This could really blow up in the Hawks' faces, if Reddish breaks out.

Yea that seems like a steal for reddish. Dude was a lottery pick 3 years ago.. unlikely they find a player as good as him in the range the hornets pick is.

Kevin Knox going from the Knicks to the Hawks - also a former lottery pick

He started the season on fire, no idea what happened after, but I'm surprised Atlanta gave up on him so quickly.

makes it a bit less uneven. But Reddish has been getting good minutes on a Hawks team loaded with guards and shooters.. Kevin been buried on a knicks team searching for something else.. I think Cam has potential to be a really good scorer in this league he was dropping 30 points a few time there when the hawks had covid issues.. Seems low risk high reward for knicks and for hawks just looking for one of their guards to give up on coming up on RFA.

It's purely a money saving move. They've committed $$$ to a lot of guys: Bogi, Capela, Trae, Collins, Heurter... with Hunter and Reddish up next for big raises. I guess the choice was between Reddish and Hunter.

                    For the Raptors, quick primer:

                    - everyone is eligible to be traded
                    - Raptors are currently less than 20K clear of the tax, so expect any deal to either be break even or bring back less in terms of salary
                    - for any break even trade, keep in mind there is a cost for signing players too, so if you trade 2 players for 1 coming back, also need room under the tax for whatever minimum salary guy you sign to fill the empty spot
                    - in terms of adding long term salary, we have 114M committed to 10 players, and next year's tax line is 144M. Assuming we add one high salary player for next year in trade at the deadline, that player can make up to about 25M (to leave room for the remaining roster spots to be filled, our pick, etc). Math changes a bit depending on who/what is heading the other way
                    - no, the Raptors will not be going into the tax this year, and almost certainly not next year either, unless there is a Kawhi level acquisition to be had

Haven't looked into it but that sounds like not having the cap space space for his extension (or not willing), so they're trying to get a guy on rookie deal hoping it would be close to Reddish in terms of skill

Lol. That's all the Knicks gave up for Reddish? that's highway robbery.

Boucher has been getting lots of steady minutes and been playing awfully well lately. Raps might be trying to inflate his trade value.

"According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer (who nailed Toronto’s interest in Scottie Barnes over Jalen Suggs), several league personnel mentioned the Raptors as a team to watch in the Turner sweepstakes. Indiana’s asking price is said to include multiple first-round picks"

No thanks. That's too much. The Raptors are not in a position to be trading away 1st round picks UNLESS it;s for stud players like Tatum, Brown, Booker, Mitchell. Myles Turner? no.

Knox is a bust, not to mention the least good looking face since Sam Cassell.
