    That's where my issues lie.
If Lowry got injured, we'd be in survival mode to a way larger degree than we are now, because Lowry is a far better and more important player than Derozan.

But you actually have no proof that we *wouldn't* be talking about it, although I'll concede that it'd take more time to make peace with it.

What Lowry brings to the table could not be replicated by other players on the current roster. But nonetheless, if he did get injured, we would all be given a chance to see what other players can do. Part of the issue is DD has such a high usage rate and also tends to be less efficient with his shooting than other players with lower usage rates. The same issue isn't true with Lowry (as I recall) so the impact of him being out would be different. No one else on the team approaches his assist and TO per 36 minutes numbers either.

Different players, different styles, different impact.

There is no one on this roster who can bring what Lowry brings to the team. Lowry is the MVP, hands down.

However, I disagree that people wouldn't be looking to GV to raise his game or discussing how his minutes will be divided.

        • Omg...you guys for the love of #WeTheNorth kiss and makeup! Stop attacking one another.....calm down! We all feel sad for DD and we wouldn't wish an injury on our least fav player aka Barg so obviouslyyy no one in their right mind would wish it on DD! The love for DD is immense and even though he has been struggling, he's still our go to guy. Him and Lowry are the leaders of our team and I am sure together with everyone on the team we will pull through. In the meantime, yes we do need to look at alternative options because we have games to play - our schedule does not just stop because DD got injured. We still have games to play starting tonight! Anyways, with that being said guys stop arguing over nonsense! This is it - wish DD the best, hope he recovers soon, and in the meantime lets hope our boys hold down fort! That is allllll!! Sheesh!

TRoss moves to the 2, and resign Jordan Hamilton to play the #3.

not to mention, no reason to sign a fringe NBA hopeful when we have a wealth of guards / wing players who could compete for Demar's minutes.

                      • Hey, I'm a staunch Demar supporter, but even I can see the opportunities for the team to grow and improve in his absence. When you have a roster that employs a very team oriented brand of ball, losing any one single player, regardless of their perceived importance isn't the end of the world. This team will not crash and burn. This isn't like OKC losing both Durant and Westbrook. This isn't even like OKC losing one of Durant or Westbrook. We still have a strong roster, that will be determined to prove they can win without their top scorer.

People shouldn't get so upset about all the silver lining comments. There are alot of positives that can come out of this. It sucks it happened, but injuries are part of the game. I hope Demar gets well, and I'm not saying a speedy recovery, but a smart recovery. The last thing I want to see is Demar or the team rushing to get him back. Heal properly and come back as strong as ever, that's what I am hoping for. I'm sure his resolve and determination will be as high as ever when he returns. And if you can't see the opportunity for the roster to improve and grow together as a unit in his absence then you are a fool.

My guess is we will struggle more to win some games, and some guys will have to step up to see us through. I expect Lowry will assume Demar's label as questionable shot taker. Fans will have a better understanding of what Demar brings to the table after this, and Demar and the rest of the team will have a better understanding of what everyone else brings to the table. But the team as a whole will be stronger as a result, and when Demar returns we will be even more dangerous. We can survive in a weak conference no problem. This team should be scary good when Demar returns, as long as he doesn't force it. Think of it as this is the team we have, and we will acquire a Demar Derozan to slide into the starting lineup when he returns. If this doesn't make the team better, then we will all know we have some pieces that just don't cut it.

                        Get well DeRo!!!!!

                        • Some football guy came back after 4 weeks from a similar injury. I'll peg a Jan 15th return.

as for minutes you got 30 to cover

                          GV + 10
                          JJ + 10
                          Lou + 5
                          Ross + 5

                          • Alright maybe I overreacted, my bad guys.

I was really upset when I found out he got injured so was kinda surprised to see the positivity in here.

We are all upset my friend - each and everyone of us. But, unfortunately the game of NBA works in such a way that games are still going to happen and we need to be ready. I am sure even the entire Raps organization is busy trying to figure out what the best way would be help the Raps win in Derozans absence. I am sure no one in their right mind would want THE lone all-star of our team to go down. I am certain. We are supporters of one team and do or die this is it. So, with that being said its interesting to note the alternatives that each individual comes up with - it'll be more interesting what Casey comes up with. I know the Raps will come through for Demar and Demar will be back soon! It's all loveee! :-)

The thing about this is I remember a poster here saying earlier in the season (or perhaps in preseason) that he wishes DeMar would get injured so he could see what the team looks like without him.
