The nets will definitely do what's best for the nets. I think the point though is what KD wants may impact the returns offered to the Nets.

If KD says he would welcome playing in Toronto and would love to finish his career there they might be more likely to throw more picks or even Scottie into the trade. If he makes it known it's not one of his preferred spots then the offer is probably way worse.
