Yeah, the Nets are saying that.
You can only get what the market permits. If doesn't matter what they say. If they don't trade then maybe he doesn't show up. If they play hardball and he doesn't yield then next summer he's 35 and was absent from the sport for a whole year. Now he's worth much less and they're a year behind. That doesn't sound like a good scenario for the Nets.

If the Nets are fully committed to trading KD, then they’re better off sitting him out than risking injury, tbh. Rust wasn’t an issue before with him.

But yes, KD being 35 with 1 year less on his contract definitely lowers his trade value somewhat. That’s a legit urgency increasing factor on their side.

        • If Nets find a way to trade Ben Simmons, that opens up a lot of possibilities for Brooklyn to make a better deal. That way they can bring in guys like Bam or Wiggins or any other young star with a designated max rookie contract.

No one wants Ben Simmons until he proves he's actually gonna play the game of basketball. He screwed them by refusing to suit up in a single playoff game.

the thing is he may be alright... assuming he sat down with a sports psychologist or life coach and basically seriously addressed what ever his hang up is. Realistically though, not worth the risk. People would rather bet on Kyrie.

I don't think they consider trading Simmons until he's back playing for a while. If he's back by the start of next season then they have a 25 year old walking triple double elite defender who is almost seven foot. Philly's fans are brutal and he cracked under the pressure. It will take a long time for his reputation to recover and if they allow time for that to happen they may wonder what's the point of trading him.

                  • Let’s hope Indi makes a play for Ayton to help us out

Yeah, the Nets would be idiots to trade Simmons now. You can absolutely build around him, I think his play style requires that, but if you do he can be a very special player.

i'm wondering if he has anxiety problems now given what happened all last year

Why have they not formally announce the extension of VanVleet?

Why Thomas Bryant has not been signed yet by a team?
Well, Fred is eligible for an extension starting today, so that would be a reason why it wasn't formally announced a couple days ago.

Additionally, they have all summer to get around to signing. I doubt anyone is in any rush. There will be a natural point of in-person interaction at some point to get ink on paper.

Just posted this in the KD thread. Not sure if Indy is going to make an offer but they don’t have room to make a max offer until the Brogdon trade becomes official on July 9th
That may be why it’s eerily quiet on the Ayton front.

Can you really build around mentally weak? And no heart or love for the game? Or, just being practical… a PG who can’t shoot?

Simmons’ game might be Giannis-lite, but when you’re talking about building an entire roster around a guy, then character has to be part of the equation.

Yeah, he’s no number 1. Is he even a number 2? Who would you rather have, Siakam or Simmons?
