What would it take to land him actually? obviously he's not worth Siakam or Barnes. Would a Trent+++ get it done?
I saw a Jazz fan propose OG + Trent plus 2 1sts for Mitchell.

I'd have to think about that one. Seems a like pretty fair trade.

Wonder if we can get Vanderbilt or Bogdanovic back in a deal like that.

Only offer that makes sense, IMO. Trent, Khem, Flynn, pile of 1sts.

Mitchell's defence hurts us less since he's replacing our weakest link there, though still a consideration. His half court offensive creation could be a godsend for the offence, and give Pascal a two-man-game option.

Frankly it just gets tricky figuring out who to bench. Kind of need Precious to start at C to have as much defence around Mitchell as possible. Scottie to the bench? OG? Has to be one of the two I think, probably Scottie (makes more sense as a creator off the bench than OG does as a 3+D off the bench). Start big in the front court, small in the back court, and then Mitchell and FVV alternate subs to limit their playing time together (with the pair being fairly short) and cover off all 48 minutes with PG play, while Scottie comes in to support each of them, and then you figure out a closing lineup, maybe you go small again with Scottie in for Precious.

Not a bad problem to have. Might just come down to whether the Raps are willing to shell out the picks.

Nope nope nope. Trade more picks, keep the good players. If you are making a star trade, just go for it. Don't undercut the current team to save picks. Can't send out any more offensive backbone than is absolutely necessary if you are going to make Mitchell work here.

between jalen jeff and banton they need to get flynn and fred up the fuck out of here. use fred to get us another piece
This is a truly astonishing take. Between G-Leaguer (as in literally not signed by the Raptors and could sign with any other team at the drop of a hat), two-way player and benchwarmer, let's get our all-star, all-defence shooter off the team, pronto!

Jazz want picks as well. Keeping OG would help a lot defensively with Mitchell around.

Considering the players they traded for Gobert and the Knicks potential deal being around Toppin and Quickley, you may be able to get by with a good young player in Trent as the center piece along with a bunch of picks.

I'm skeptical of his defense, but it would be exciting to watch a dynamic scorer like him.

yeah i wouldn't be giving up og if you are only getting Mitchell... we need every other person on the floor to be elite elite defensively.

Any of 6 to 8 teams could have won it all last season and nobody would have been surprised; so you have to give the Warriors props both for earning it and being lucky. I wouldn't call them stacked anymore by any definition... there's only one top 10 player on that roster.

We are in the parity era.... it all comes down to health and gelling at the right time. The only complaint you might have are the KD stacked GSW teams (who got beat once by the good guys). Even then, the ability to stack that KD Warriors team was because of a series of 3 lucky events: (1) Curry got hurt early in his career, which made him sign a long-term contract that seriously undervalued his worth and hit to the cap & (2) a once-in-a-decade cap spike that happened exactly when KD became available. (3) KD actually making the unthinkable weakest free-agent move in the history of sports.
We're in the parity era because all the fake buddy-up stacked teams were either horribly injured or beautifully dysfunctional this year. Lakers, Clippers, Nets would have been favourites if all healthy and firing on all cylinders. The NBA continues to have have extremely top heavy rosters where 2/3 of the teams have absolutely zero chance from the first tipoff. A few others if all things go right for them. I have a grudging respect for the Celtics because of it ....

The most frustrating periods I remember last season were out flat out inability to score. I would move Fred or OG in the right package for sure and yes, I'd sacrifice a bit of D for a dynamic scorer.

Yeah, maybe a bit much but at least it's close. Not like the absurd suggestions for KD.

I'd prefer Trent plus more picks but if OG is unhappy with his offensive role now he's gonna be really unhappy if we add Mitchell. I think OG has more trade value so maybe OG, 3 picks and filler is a fair deal?

I know everyone will want to keep OG for his defense but I'm pretty sure he won't be happy as a defensive specialist who never gets shots and will bolt first chance he gets from a Raptors team with Mitchell. So get value for him now while we can.

                          • I would consider moving Fred in a Mitchell deal, not sure he fits Utah's plans, but maybe a third team would get involved and send a pick and prospect. I would try to hold on to OG.

Fred (to third team), Gary, and a first. I'm not sure if that's enough to get it done considering what NY has to offer.

                            • I slept on Mitchell, and I feel like he could really fit what we have going. I love that he's only 25 and has a long term deal still. He's not leaving anytime soon. He would generate instant offense for us, which we need since we struggle to score for long stretches in games.

Defense is a concern, but looking deeper..

He lead Utah in deflections at 2.4 a game, steals per game at 1.5 and loose balls recovered at 1.0. So he was their best generator of possessions at least from the perimeter.

You could plug in Mitchell into Gary's role and I doubt we'd see a serious drop off in defense at all. If we could get Vanderbilt back in a deal with Mitchell it may soften the blow a bit by losing OG. And you would need to include OG to beat a NY deal.

Either way it comes back down to the pick capital. I don't steal picks from Tolzman. Plus Bobby/Masai have relied on picks to get better in the short term by including them in trades.. we used one on Thad just most recently. I'd do OG+Gary+Svi with 2 firsts and a 2nd for Mitchell and Vanderbilt. Can't combine players in a Vanderbilt trade, but we could do two trades here: OG+Gary+2 firsts for Mitchell. Svi+2nd for Vanderbilt.

                              • Why would the Jazz have any interest in Fred? Fred is 28. Trading Mitchell means they're starting all over again so they'd want young players and draft picks back. Look at who they got for Gobert. They got Kessler and a bunch of 1st.
