      Love the passion.
      But precious is 210lbs.
Bam goes 255. Embiid 275 on a good day. Jared Allen who got rag dolled by Embiid while in Brooklyn goes 250 as well.
      It matters.

The centre position has won 2 consecutive MVPs.
      Thats not an old lens.

The Raptors are betting everything they have that it doesn't.

Also I seriously doubt Precious is 210 lbs now.

OK.. so precious now goes 215....

        Brook.Lopez 280
Old Man River Al Horford 250
        Bam Adebyo 255
        Clint Capella 260
        Joel Embiid 275
        Jared Allen 250
        Nik Vucevic 260

These guys play at the 5 for the teams we most likely would see in the playoffs.
        In a half court game.
Nelly Ball was great in the regular season... just not so much in the playoffs.

Its lonely here on Centre Island ...

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

        • We're in an age of basketball now where most of those C's aren't even playable during a deep playoff run.

          • Raptors signed Gabe Brown to exhibit 10 deal. Likely 905 bound but he is looking like the 20th guy to camp.

The Toronto Raptors signed forward Gabe Brown on Wednesday, the team announced, affording them the chance to have yet another player with length in their development pipeline.

The Raptors did not officially disclose the length or value of the contract. However, according to Sportsnet's Blake Murphy, Brown was signed to an Exhibit 10 deal — a minimum, non-guaranteed deal to come to camp.

              • Gabe Brown shot around 38% from college in his 4 year program.. shot 42% in his 3rd year. And he has a decent sample size.. Took about 5 3's a game in his senior year.

He's also 6'8 and has a 7'0 wingspan.. so sounds about right.

He's already a shooter, which is great. Looks like there's change in philosophy now where they're admitting that it's not as easy as they thought to teach shooting to non-shooters.

I wouldn't say that most of those C's are unplayable. Vucevic is hard to play because he's a bad defender.. but most of those other guys were/are important to their teams. Even Brook Lopez who's an elite rim protector and allows Giannis to roam around on defense.

But size/weight is only one factor. Golden State won the championship with Looney as their center. But even they drafted Wiseman with a top pick a couple of seasons ago.

I think this is why we got Koloko. But it will take a few years for him to become a rotation piece. We also were in on a lot of center rumours the past couple of years. We had a lot of interest in Gobert apparently. Had interest in Poeltl and Turner last season, and perhaps the price tag for each got a little too hot for us, so we bailed.

Yet not having a traditional 7' center last season is not the reason we lost to the 76ers. Joel had a great series, but we primarily lost because the 76ers were hot from 3 and were really good in transition.

There are two sides to the court.
We have to protect the rim and rebound as well.
And we are being beaten on a regular basis in both those elements of defense.
In Defensive Rebounds and Second Chance points given up we are either last or second last.
Rim protection and rebounding fixes that.
That part of basketball doesn't age.
Im not out on Achiwua... Its he is being asked to do something hes not equipped to do. Like being asked to build a 6 foot fence with 4 foot boards.

We have only to look at Utah and Rudy Gobert to see how C's are exposed in the playoffs. Denver got the gentleman's sweep and Philly constantly gets bounced by Boston or Miami, both teams that tend to play small.

I'm not saying we should be happy with the lack of rim protection, but these are calculated disadvantages which the coaches and management are all well aware of. They simply feel the advantage they have by playing small outweighs that disadvantage.
