Wow, $140M for Jordan Poole. NBA money is just wacky.
Time to trade Trent Jr. + Birch to the Magic for Harris + Cole Anthony + Mo Bamba + 1 2023 FRP or trade Trent Jr. to the Pelicans Dyson Daniels+ Hayes +1 FRP, and after the new media deal , the Luxury Tax is projected around $200 Million.

If I am Golden State trade Green out of the Conference to the Hawks for John Collins. Savings of $3 Million
Than trade Klay for Buddy Hield + Chris Duarte + FRP! Savings of $16.5 Million
Finally offer Wiggins an extension of $120 Million starting at $25.5 Million, (Savings of $7 Million). Add all these savings including receiving of players will equal $26.5 Million. Hield takes a paycut for next year.
These savings will allow the Warriors to make the big boost in pay for Poole and keep the team salary around $185 Million only $20 Million over next year's projected luxury Tax.

Guess What Wiggins signed an extension 4/$109 Million starting at $24.3 Million in 2023/24 ($9.6 Million savings)

NBA legend and basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo is receiving treatment for a brain tumor in Atlanta, the league announced Saturday.

The 56-year-old former shot-blocking superstar is “in great spirits,” a statement from the NBA on behalf of his family reads.

“He is receiving the best care possible from a collaborative team of specialists in Atlanta and is in great spirits as he begins treatment,” the statement reads. “Dikembe and his family ask for privacy during this time so they can focus on his care. They are grateful for your prayers and good wishes.”

NBA commissioner Adam Silver added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Dikembe, one of the world’s great humanitarians.”

Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the 7-foot 2-inch Mutombo came to Washington’s Georgetown University initially on an academic scholarship in 1987 – and rose to fame when he joined the basketball team in his second year.

Selected fourth in the 1991 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets, Mutombo went on to become a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and an eight-time All-Star. He played 18 seasons for Denver, the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets.

He retired second on the league’s career blocked shots list and was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015.

Off the court he is known for his humanitarian work. In 1997, two years before retiring from the NBA, Mutombo established the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation with a mission to improve education and quality of life in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

one of the great guys of this sport on and off the court is in a fight that I am sure everyone one are rooting for him to win. This time we all need to wag our finger in synchrony and say “no, no, no, no”

      • Nice to see David Johnson back to the 905. Only 21 years old, still enough time to improve.

Interesting because a lot of the Siakam hype during the offseason was driven by his performance in the playoffs where he was guarded by and hunted match ups against Embiid. I think it's against the bigger and slower guys he has the advantage. Guys that are similar size to him are able to stay in front of him a bit more easily.

I would at least like to see how the unorthodox look with Gary starting works for some of this season big it fails then there is the safety net of Precious available.
We remember that series very differently. Embiid was the guy Philly wanted guarding Pascal, he gave him loads of trouble.

Sure, we can try the small starters again, though I'd feel a lot better about it if I really believed we would pivot away from it when it inevitably doesn't work. I hoped for the same thing last year, worked out great.

Do the Raps rely on Fred to do that for any significant amount that's it's worth mentioning? I know I've seen him set one here or there but not often.
In crunch time specifically they go to it a lot. If they really do lean into Pascal and Scottie creating this year, expect to see a lot more of it. It's an excellent play.

Good to see Hawkins going to the 905 as well. I liked him in summer league. Too bad they didn't keep Barcello too though. I liked him as well.

Brown, Perry and of course Dowtin are going to help that team a bunch.

                  • So GS has to trade someone before the trade deadline to avoid the tax penalty right?

I'd have to go back and watch that series because I'm remembering it differently. I recall it Pascal having his way with Embiid.

They would have to trade a lot more than just one player without taking any money back to avoid the tax. I believe this season they will be about $40M in the tax. Next season about $60M if Draymond opts into his player option.

                        • Warriors Salary plus Taxes adds up to more than the owners bought the entire team for in 2010. Fucking crazy.

Pascal shot 11 for 30 from the field, for 29 points on 33 shooting possessions, largely driven by him taking 8 (and missing 7) threes, settling for jumpers as he tends to do against bigger defenders.

Full set of matchups in that series:

You can see his FG% and general effectiveness is way better against basically anyone else, and dominant against smaller defenders.
