LOL who is trading a future pick for Khem Birch?

It's astonishing how much you dislike Birch and yet at the same time think he will provide value in a trade? He's a functional backup/spot-starter center. Teams do not trade assets for that, they sign that for something in the room MLE to full MLE range.

He could absolutely be used as salary matching in a trade but they won't trade him for the sake of doing so.
LOL…Its astonishing how every posts on Birch, you over-reach to defend the indefensible.

I dont expect a lottery pick for Birch, who would be so stupid to think about that but the way you overvalue him, I will not be surprise.

The most we can get for him is a late second rounder or he can be use as a filler in a trade with San Antonio to get Murray.

Watching clips, his frame looks really impressive. He's gonna be MOBILE but also looks pretty tough, and like he can continue to put on mass. Looks like the perfect modern center frame. (and that's quite the thrill after some of the bruuutal lugs we've had over the years....)

I don't worry that much about what any of those teams did (maybe haven't quite looked close enough) -- except Detroit... Leave it to Sacramento to fuck up their pick at 4 and leave the perfect piece on a platter for the next team. Ivey is gonna fit in beautifully there with Cade... Gonna take a few years but they could get scary good...

koloko, birch, pascal, bouch, precious is there enough minutes? Birch seems like the odd man out
As Dan said, it's not really a problem -- especially in the now... and then in two years, when Koloko is likely really champing to fully take over outright, you either let Birch walk, easily, or resign him for a much smaller contract and with the understanding that he's there in support.

Precious, Birch and Koloko brings us solid options in the present -- and looks pretty great in the future.

I for one love this timeline for us.

I knew he was from Cameroon but didn't realize he was from the same home town as Spicy.
That can only help with Pascal's headspace, I wonder if they'll room together on the road when Koloko is up (which I doubt is any considerable time next season, barring injuries).

Room together?! No he a rookie, got to earn that.

It'll be fun seeing Pascal, Boucher and Koloko run plays in French.

A skillful Pascal paired with a steady mental disposition about the game could do wonders for this team. The addition of Scottie and his developing chemistry with the rook last season is something to be excited about. Hopefully the addition of a fellow Cameroonian would reinforce that will to win when it matters most.

When they interviewed him during the NCAA tournament he said Pascal was his hero. He's probably ecstatic to be playing with him now.

Other than Cade, do any of those teams you mentioned have a player that projects as being better than Siakam? Well Raptors do, so I think the head start this team has by already fielding a strong roster and adding to it Barnes who you may say has Siakam as his floor, FLOOR, should keep the Raps at a healthy lead. None of those teams caught up to the Raps in this draft.

And while Koloko has yet to prove himself, he projects as a defensive specialist which Birch and Boucher weren't really. So you could say our C position moved a bit more in line with what the team wants to do on defense.

They've gotta nail down another guard in free agency or hope Flynn or Banton take a big stride this summer, but even a baby step will be an improvement to a team that was like 5 wins from the top seed in the east this past season.

I think Masai did it again.
I watched some this kids background history, Journey, where he came from to now..I think this just the beginning.
U know when u have this feeling that a player is gonna be really good, I honestly c that, it's not hype. This guy is typical raptors player. A player that wants 2 succeed, like Masai said winner, u want those kind of players, winning type players.
What better organization 2 come 2 than the raptors. Great defensive player, blocks out, rebounds, blocks shots, his good at playing d on guards, good on switchable defensively. This what the raptors need.
In few years..ppl gonna say..damn he went second rd, how..
It will take time to develop, learn coach nurse system and have a longevity nba career.
                      Raptors still need Center.
If u can go out there and get couple centers Ibaka Veteran and Mo Bamba with Koliko, now we're talking.

Our fans do this same song and dance every offseason and poo poo their pants about additions other teams made. Then the season rolls around and those teams are just as bad as they were before. Chicago, Charlotte, Cleveland, and especially Detroit all have major issues that these draft picks did not solve.

Glad you're loving the pick. Masai finally gave you and grindhouse what you wanted, a f*king center.

Unless we offload Birch somehow we don't have room for another center, that would be 4 on the roster which doesn't make sense. I hope we use the MLE on a guard who can shoot 3's, that's the biggest need remaining on the roster.

I remember seeing it during the tournament. Still trying to find it. I did find an interview where he talks about when he started playing, and it wasn't until age 15 when he started to take it seriously, as he had to walk 3 miles to a very crappy court just to play, and the organized ball in Africa is pretty terrible. So really this kid didn't start balling until he got to Arizona.
