  • I guess the difference between this and another free agent we miss out on, if we get Kd, great. If we don’t, we keep our great players and draft picks. Really, the main option that I could think of that would take time to digest is if Scottie is involved

      • Masai has is reel in the lake, and is trying really hard to get his whale. Not sure what he's using for bait though. That's the real question mark for me in all this.

I doubt Scottie and Pascal are.

All of these reports about how Nets don't want to pair Scottie with Simmons or how the Nets can just wait it out seems like they're trying to save face.

There is a lot we can give up in this trade. Scottie, Pascal, all our draft picks. I know its Kevin fricken Durant, but I'm nervous.

              • I really think that based on the difficulties and complexities involved with the nets dealing with the suns or Miami we have a gap in the market. Masai is good at taking advantage of market inefficiencies. I also think for that reason we can basically out bid everyone except NOP. Masai has never done a trade that has severely sacrificed our future EVER. Even with the Kawhi trade, we never traded away our future. we gave up ONE pick.

Right now its not about haggling over who will be in the deal. It likely won't be Siakam or Barnes. The real question is how many picks.

Yeah Masai has always been shrewd and patient, he doesn't overreact.

During the Kawhi trade, you heard all the rumors about Philly, Lakers, Celtics and so on, he waited while all the other teams bowed out and he is doing the same here. All the day 1 reports were about Phoenix and Miami. Here we are pretty much only hearing about the Raptors now.

RE: Nets on Scottie, that's probably posturing.

I don't think the Nets can wait too long either, they've got less leverage than they think, I'm not quite sure they're going to get more than the Gobert package when it's all done. Durant is just too old and could decline severely in any given year. On top of that, he asked out there where he was given all the control, how many teams are willing to gut their team to get a star who's just willing to up and leave despite being given everything? How many teams can even make that trade and still have a chance at contending?

I'm not sure there are any teams interested who can put in a better offer than OG, GTJ + picks...

I am liking this new mars as he is joining the waiting game now, the past 72 hours, he was still leading the “it’s a moot point discussion”hehe

Nets just threw a bone to Marc Spears with a smokescreen that Warriors are also interested…lol. Sean Marks is trying to boost the price for KD, hopefully Masai may budge. What a tool Spears is, always trying to be Relevant.

We'll see what the final parameters are, but I'm still not convinced we are a championship contender if we have KD and we trade Pascal for him. We're better, but not quite a chip contender (maybe a 2nd round exit instead of the 1st). KD got swept and Kyrie played every playoff game last year. That Brooklyn team sans KD is almost the same as the Raptors team sans Pascal. You'd need to see a huge leap in improvement from Scottie in year 2.

Either way the TWolves wrecked the market. We'd have to give up 4 unprotected picks and 3 pick swaps (ie, the most you can offer in draft capital) to get him. That means we're only getting picks in 3 years and can't use any in a trade to get better. KD is also 34 and not getting any younger. The picks at the end of KD's contract could be steals for Brooklyn. We basically have to treadmill until we can start using draft picks again of end up gifting lottery tickets to the Nets.

As for the Warriors rumour.. that was debunked by someone else. Wiggins can't be traded to Brooklyn as he's a designated rookie. Nets would have to trade Simmons as well to make a deal that works.

they've got him on a four year contract... why do they need to make a hasty trade for a package they find to be lacking? look how the ben simmons situation panned out

Once Raptors overtake the Suns, I think it'll basically be guaranteed as a Woj or Shams tweet.
