He averaged 30 last season and almost buried the champions the year before. He is more than capable still.

The way he plays, I can still see him averaging 25+ at 37 years old barring any injuries.
His sideshow bob foot got in the way of sending them home.

Given our current roster and the strength of the other teams, do you guys think KD can replicate the impact Kawhi had?
It will depend on the players we give. If we give Siakam, I will say no, KD can not replicate it.
I will not give Siakam, because his numbers compared with KD's numbers are almost the same.
I will not give Siakam. On the other hand, Kloko is from Cameron, the same as Siakam, this will allow Kloko to grow and have someone to help him in a very good way. I have high hopes for Kloko.

Pascal has good numbers but not in KD's ballpark.

        30 PPG > 23 PPG

KD is a much better shooter from everywhere on the floor, and he's much better from the FT line.

Gotta take off those Raptors colored sunglasses. Love the enthusiasm but Pascal is not KD.

I did not say Pascal is KD, in my humble opinion the numbers are almost the same when you bear in mind that Pascal is slightly a better rebounder, and Pascal used to have many tasks aside from scoring like bringing up the ball as if he was a PG. I did not say that Pascal is KD, but the margin of utility that KD will bring does not justify such a trade.

I can assure you - and write this down - Massai will not trade either Scottie or Pascal for KD. It is not a wise way to look at it. Massai does not gamble, when he made the KL trade it was a trade with almost no risk, as KL had only 1 year remained in his contract, but for KD, I will not take him with his current contract - 4 years remained- that is too much especially with injury history.

We do not need to dismantle our team to get KD.

          • KD is a walking bucket, but I'm fine with letting Barnes be this team's face.

                • Interesting quirk I didn’t realize for those waiting for Ayton to get an offer. Indy, the most likely, has to wait for the Brogdon trade to be official on July 9th before it can have the max room to offer Ayton. The wait continues

                    Shhhhhhhh

somewhat related, and I know many have tweeted this through, it is amazing that it has barely been a year since he was a draft night surprise and now he is mentioned as a budding superstar

Doesn't matter if it's Michael Jordan. I'm not trading a 20 year star who has a chance to be a special player for a 34 year old superstar. That's just dumb imo.
We agree on that !!! Trades don't come with insurance .. Anything happens to KD which at that age something can happen .. If you trade a 20 year old your present and future is fucked .

                      • Wonder how Scottie is taking all of this in? Hope he is enjoying the ride and start the next season as a Raptor and show everyone that they did the right thing not trading him off. Scottie in his first couple of months was guarding KD & Lebron and got kudos back from them both after those games. And he has been working away in TO on his offense with Pascal OG the last month at least. Countless coaches and experts have confirnmed his "specialnous".

I want to see him be a Raptor for a very long time. Basketball joy.

                        • Serious question and apologies if this has been covered...

In regards to the rookie designation rule, is there anything restricting the Nets from trading Simmons? Should be obvious as to why it would benefit them but I also haven't seen any hypothetical trades with him included to help facilitate a KD deal. Thx in advance.

I'm sure they could trade Ben - however, because of the injury (herniated disc) and passivity for getting back on the court last year, I wouldn't think he would have much value to other teams, especially at his salary, and the risk of regression in his level of play. Nets can't even (currently) add draft pick assets back (like the Raptors did with DMC), since they don't have any.

Unless there is a deal out there where a team is willing to trade a player that is part of that rule, I don't see why the Nets would. Heat won't trade Bam, Pelicans reportedly aren't interested in trading Ingram, Suns won't trade Booker.
