  • Jalen Rose doesn't think Barnes + Siakam + 2 first round picks are enough to land KD. These guys are fools.

Yeah the swaps likely don't move the needle. Trading for KD is going all in and that absolutely requires keeping scottie and pascal. I think we need to keep those moreso than any other players in order to contend. But it's the fat stacks of picks that demonstrate an all in move. We make a deal like minny did for gobert and that's all in. The only thing left for minny is fringe moves, so they better be hoping that lineup can contend as is. And again, trading a lot of picks concerns me for team building when scottie reaches his prime.
So I think the real question is can it be done for 3 picks? all unprotected

I think espn wants kd to stay but i just dont see a reason for him to stay.... especially since Kyrie has signalled he will go after this year

I do think we're 50 win team as constructed but I don't think we win the championship as constructed. I think adding KD gets us there depending on what we give up. I share Masai's thinking that we're playing for championships not just to be pretty good. A trade for a star is what got us there last time and I think that's what will be required again. Our roster and contracts are setup perfectly to make one of those trades. I think we need to do our best to make a trade for a superstar happen when it's available.

I'm much higher on a KD trade than Mitchell. I think KD puts us over the top and a player of his caliber doesn't come available very often, and the timing is even better now because very few teams have the ability to make an offer due to the Rookie max deal rule and Simmons being on the Nets.
well KD is a massive offensive upgrade without the massive potential defensive drop off.. mitchell would give the upgrade offensively but there are real questions about his defence that no one can answer

It was Rose's opinion, nothing to do with ESPN.

Anyway, I really hope teams don't give in here. Brooklyn seems to be asking for a massive haul. They're the ones that should be desperate imo. They have an unhappy superstar who's 34 years old. One bad injury and he's done. His value will diminish as he gets older so this year is the perfect year to trade him. And most importantly, they have no draft picks. All their draft picks belongs to the Rockets.

So let them keep Durant then. Let's see what happens.

I dont think we give in on the player ask... possibly on the pick ask which is fine by me because you keep majority of your talent.

KD is a bigger offensive upgrade over Mitchell too. He's a lot better than Mitchell on both ends. That's why I'm willing to give up more for KD in my hypotheticals.

I'll never forget when this fool said 99 9 percent Kawli coming back to the Raptors.

It's going to be interesting how this plays out. At least the team is in a good position whether or not we make a trade, and we have the assets to pull the trigger if necessary without gutting the team or even the teams future. My biggest concern is an inability to build around scottie in 4+ years if we give up too much now for an aging, injury prone star. I'm sure management has similar concerns. It would suck if scottie wanted out 2 years into his second contract because we don't have the assets to build around him.

That's fair. I too, would be willing to give up more for Durant. Would you trade OG, GTJr, Koloko, 2 unprotected 1sts, one top 10 protected 1st, and 2 swaps for KD?

Sure if KD was 24 and not 34.

The issue is nobody will be able to contend with KD if Brooklyn continues to demand the same package for him in a trade. If he was 24 then sure, you have the time to put a winner around him. If Brooklyn pivots their trade demands to be more picks focused, like Utah with Gobert, then a lot more teams get involved.

If they don't change it up they probably do the trade with the Suns for Ayton, some shooters and picks.

Yeah I'd do that for sure.

Nets don't want Ayton and can't take him on if he gets a max deal which it seems certain he will. They are in a tough spot since the teams desperate enough to make a deal like Miami can't do the trade because Bam is on a rookie max.

                            • 3 way Durant trade idea.

                              Raptors - Kevin Durant

                              Brooklyn - Russell Westbrook/OG Anunoby/THT/ Raptors 1st/2 Lakers 1st

                              Lakers - Kyrie Irving/Gary Trent Jr/Malachi Flynn

                              Masai interested?

Why can't the Nets take on Ayton's max deal if they are sending out KD's max deal in the process?
