Have a feeling somethings gonna happen tonight
This feeling is what I refer to as the shakes. You are transitioning into the evening where you're afraid to go to bed. But much like Kawhi watch, I think this will drag into next week as not much happens in the US on the 4th of July weekend (other than shark attacks in the north east)

Kawhi of course was a rental so we gave up less. We could work on it first year and see how it goes. If Durant is his usual self but its not working out we should be able to get close to what we gave up trading him away. So all those assets we give up aren’t gone forever they remain in the value of Durant
That's an argument you can make if you're a pro KD guy. They could do that. They'd be lucky to find a young player as good as Barnes though.

        • BTW, does anyone find it ironic that Masai and Bobby will be negotiating with a Canadian (ish) owner (Tsai) and an embedded ex Raptor GM (Marks)?

Nah, it's gonna be sooner than later I feel. This KD ordeal is slowing down free agency to a grinding halt.

Nothing is happening until Brooklyn mulls over the offers that pretty much every team in the NBA throws at them.

And if you're Brooklyn it's a short list of teams you are even considering to begin with.

Also, if the Suns are the number 1 favorites in the KD sweepstakes, you have to wonder how badly the Nets want to pair Simmons with Deandre Ayton.

Booker can't be moved. That leaves Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson as the core of their offers. IMO Gary Trent Jr, OG and FVV is a far better get.

Since there are a couple of other star gazers here ... I posted earlier that Harden had given up his player option ... he is still unsigned ... so here goes a wild muse (and I dont know the rules well enough to know if it's possible).
Harden may not want to sign with the Sixers but rejoin Durant at his next location.

lol Harden, Durant and Kyrie were all just secretly running away from Blake Griffin

                  • Not sure this happens.
KD has played a total of 90 games the last 2 years. This would be a 4 year commitment with a 34 year old player at 44 Mill a year. There are very few teams that can afford a player making that much, let alone trade for him. Realistically, who are the Raps competing against? There are not enough teams that can put together a competitive package to motivate the Raps to make the type of offers that are out there. So, I think the Nets wait until the trade deadline.

Harden did that so he could renegotiate his contract with the 76ers, so that they would be under the tax and they could give PJ Tucker the full mid level contract (which they've done).

He's not leaving Philly. Morey is actually trying to bring a lot of his Houston guys over. House was signed. They are also trying to trade for Gordon.

Yes, I was aware but that entire Nets team was a fiasco. Your position may well be correct except it seems Harden left the Nets b/c of Kyrie and seems KD is of similar mind now. The possibility that JH may feel Philly cannot get to the finals and now that KD is waiting on a location (eg. Suns or Raps) he is a f/a now isnt he? Philly can get something for him on a s&t to KD's new team. Yes far fetched... but do the rules permit this (salary cap) for either team? Harden wants a chip badly so he may relent on some salary demands..

Harden is technically a UFA once he dropped his option.

It would be hard to join another team unless he is willing to take an exception (mid-level or minimum) from a team, or goes there via a S&T. But the team that gets Harden (and KD) would then be hard capped. I just don't think its realistic.

There is a far greater chance that KD ends up in Philly. Philly could try to trade Harris, Maxey and draft picks to Brooklyn. Not sure they want that package or not, but that's likely the best avenue for the two of them to get together again.

                              • One thing I think that is working against Philly and Toronto for that matter is that Brooklyn won't want to send KD to a divisional rival. So if Miami or Dallas for example puts in a slightly less attractive offer than Phi/Tor, they may accept the slightly lesser offer.

Watch SAC offer to take both KD and Kyrie so the best buds can stay together
