Why are you still trying to make this a thing?

How about instead of obscure stats we look at his 3PT%.

29.1% on 3.2 attempts per game.

    What a great shooter!

He would look great on our bench, where it's a prerequisite to have a sub 30% 3PT shot.
He's a 19yr old ROOKIE. You expect him to immediately shoot lights out? the game is too fast for him right now. But you can see flashes of brilliance if you watch him play.

I see more flashes of brilliance with Koloko, who is also a rookie.

I also don't get why a 19 year old shooter should not know how to shoot yet. At what age does the brain comprehend shooting a 3? He doesn't need to be lights out but he's terrible and that's a problem. We would not be happy if we had drafted him and he was putting up those numbers here.

Was Scottie billed as a pure shooter coming out of college? That was the one skill Branham was supposed to have, the main reason to draft him.

Scotties shooting was supposed to be a work in progress, he wasn't good coming into the draft.

          Weird how context matters.

Why you even bother, you seem to not follow you own advise to me .

            • Is it time to admit that the whole bunch of long and athletic 6'8" guys only strategy has hit the ground like a bag of wet cement ?

How confident are you in the Bobby Nick and Masai show in so much as 2 of the last 4 seasons since the 2019 championship have resulted in the #tampatank and if this year isn't a tank its a damn good cover for one?

Under "how did we get here" is the bench. Yes its a tough loss with Otto Porter going on IR, but the Raps bench even with OPjr is now at a point where its interchangable with a good D League starting 5.

All of these things will/might lead to the loss of the casual basketball fan. I hear the chirps that the hard core fans will never leave. That may be true. But will there be enough of them out there to keep the Raps in the top 2 of Basketball / Hockey and Baseball teams in the minds of the citys sports fans.

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Nah you just don't keep the same energy about players.

Koloko is a centre with 49% FG when all of his opportunities are created for him and he's always around the basket. And he's 22 years old. But he is showing more flashes somehow. But 19 year old is supposed to be a finished product.

Neither are finished products, which is why its odd to think Raptors made a mistake already.

                  • Its clear mgmt made a mistake thinking there were lots of playoff battles ahead and thad would be a reliable experienced guy for that situation. In this situation branham or any other project would have been better though. Some draft nights every second player in the 20s and second round are getting shifted around mgmt cudda made a deal for a second for koloko and kept the first

Well, I think the idea was good. They tried it and it was an interesting project. But yeah, maybe it's time to move from it. Just did not work as well as we could have hoped.

At the same time, I'm just wondering if we're underestimating Scottie's potential development curve. If he's a stud by next season, this core can still be really good, I think.

It depends a lot on how much money does Fred want to stay here. If he wants that big bag like we heard in the last couple weeks, I think you trade him, because he'll take way too much space on the cap comparing to what he brings, sadly.

Also, about OG, if rumors that he wants out are true, you work on finding the best trade possible, and you do it. Spicy P, it gotta be a crazy, crazy offer. And for Trent, depends again on how much money he wants to stay here.

That's the thing. We, as fans, don't know much compared to the managers. That's why it's so hard to know what's the real plan going into this year's trade deadline.

Koloko was projected as a rim protecting center. He's averaging 1.1 blocks in 15 minutes. His main skill translated to the NBA level.

Era of one dimensional centers is over.

He's going to be a decent shooter. Plus he can run.
