Also, unless you are Steph Curry.... small 1-way guards can't be the defacto franchise player who elevates a team to legit championship status. Last small guard before Steph to lead his team to a chip was Isiah Thomas, I believe. I guess D-Wade could also kind of count, but he's not that small and he was a good defender back then.

Historically that has proven to be correct. You could probably make the argument that the best player of any championship team must be a good two way player regardless of position.

to a lesser extent, the Clippers and the Mavs. It’s all about the match up.

I still have some doubts with the Celtics to win it all, but maybe this is their year.

Sixers/ Denver/ and Memphis just have to be lucky like the 2018-19 Raptors.

Golden State, the pedigree as long the core pieces are healthy will always be in the conversation

But an injury to Giannis or Middleton will derail the Bucks bid as they to me are so deep not to get the Larry O’ Brien.

shaq averaged 14 and 10 in the '06 finals, so you could say wade won that one on his own in one sense.

he also went to the line almost 100 times in 6 games, so you could also say he didn't win that one on his own in another sense where the zebras were on his side

i don't see things playing out well for the mavs. early returns on the kyrie trade look about the same as before the trade. think they exit early and fire the coach in the offseason

i could see it for dallas, although not sure nurse's schemes fit their personnel on either side of the ball, particularly on defense. (they would continue to be iso-heavy on offense, when i think they need less of that, although it's working for them since they have two of the best iso players in the game)

i wouldn't want kidd as the next raptors coach though

make him a lead assistant then in charge of player development. i don't think anything in his track record suggests he's a good head coach. he's now had the two best players of this generation with mostly mediocre results, unless last year's dallas team really impressed you (i think the suns just shat the bed)
