Maybe Dalano just needs more development, maybe he’s not good enough. Either way, what are you doing if you’re in Nick’s shoes and there’s still a premium on winning? That’s right, you play the vets a lot of minutes and hope they can handle it. Other than Boucher (and even he is struggling right now) who can you trust night to night off the bench? I’m just a fan, I don’t see how they practice, etc., and still I don’t even trust them. I have to think Nick and the coaching staff has a better sense of their ability to contribute than I do.
if im nurse i'd be sending him to the g league and talk to management about trading flynn and birch for Alec Burke who can play

      • No Game Thread....u know it's bad when there is no game thread...that's how bad the season been..yeah barely. 500, as a raptor franchise is not acceptable..

        • So we are about a third of the way through the schedule.
Guys have been hurt and come back. About a 50 50 split on home and away. Pretty good sample size.

Is our backcourt .. a strength back to the days of ride and die and emptying the clip....now an area of minor or major concern ?
Against any of Boston, Bucks, Cavs, Philly , Nets and Hawks...We don't project as the better unit.

Tonight is a midweek game in December. As random a matchup as it gets.
In come the former Excremento Kings.
          No more.
The Kings are above 500 and have built a team around Sabonis and De Aaron Fox.

So what does this random midweek in December backcourt matchup look like ?
Fox and Davion Mitchell backed up by Kevin Heurter, Malik Monk and former Rap Terrance Davis
          vs
          GTJ, Freddy, Malachi and Dalano.

          Time to worry ?

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

              That's embarrassing.
I just threw up a quick game thread, what has RR become?
A bunch of guys more interested in arguing analytics instead of discussing a live game

There was also a lot of responsibility assigned to those young guys coming into the season as well, from a "where is the internal development going to come from" perspective. The coaches and FO talked a lot about internal development -- and we haven't seen it yet from Scottie, Dalano, Malachi, etc. Too much pressure on those guys? Who knows. But it sure isn't just the vets/starters that are the problem right now. Pascal and OG have gotten better, but Gary and Fred are in some kind of slump, and Scottie has had a rough start to the season all around.

Nick doesn't trust the younger guys, and it's either because he has a blindspot, or because they aren't good enough. They simply weren't good enough (Scottie excepted) last year, and none of them has gotten any better this year, despite management's hope. That leads to too many minutes for the vets, possibly to overuse, but what option is there, minus just playing them anyway. In that case, you're effectively tanking, and that's not Toronto's style (thank God).
Too much, too soon possibly. Forged by fire hopefully.

We all mocked Casey's "role cards". But maybe that's a better way for young players to get their initial footing and confidence in the league. Our systems might be a bit too complex for newbies.

It's complex even for vets like Thad. Lol

                    • let’s play a game…who says no?

first off fred is a hard guy to trade … but i really think his play style doesn’t fit.

                      raptors
                      j jackson jr.
                      myles turner
reggie jackson (expiring and salary for deal)
                      bj boston

                      pacers
                      fred vanfleet
                      robert covington
                      (more could be added here)

                      grizzles
OG anunoby (still works with pascal)
                      moses brown

                      LA clippers
                      gary trent jr.
                      M. flynn

that would be the base the is room for tweaks

pacers even with their start i don’t think they believe this is the future. they get a leader.

                      raptors
fixes rebounding and gives option for twin towers adds shot blocking and we get a 6’9 shooting guard who can be moulded. reggie is a expiring and so is myles if shit doesn’t fit. we are good

                      grizzles
OG or pascal would make that team dangerous

                      la clippers
depth defense offense and a future PG

Yeah, that could be the case. Some of these guys are just trying to figure out being in the league and how to play the game at this level and here comes this complex system they need to digest. The team looks like they've hit a wall right now.

Casey is so good at developing players that Detroit is once again the 2nd worst team in the league and may be worst by seasons end. He's been the coach in Detroit since 2018. 4 years and no players developed.

Kyle cemented his legacy as a leader rather than borderline journeyman/can't carry a team guy, thanks to Kawhi.
Casey can send the same Christmas card to the Leonard household; over rated and rich for it.

Without 2019 Masai might find himself in the same boat. Respected visionary, world changer, good Executive, won nothing.

Kyle and Casey aren't going to win a thing again in their lifetimes. Bobby/Masai, what's it gonna be?
