  • Well I wonder if there are smaller moves that might keep us somewhat competitive or should they try and bottom out. We need to focus more on Barnes that's for sure. Just moving Fred and Gary might not result in much movement standings wise, at least this season, so it will be interesting to see how this goes. Bottoming out will require moving pascal I imagine.

All the more reason to explore what their market value would be.

Pascal has to be on the table. He's our best trade chip to net us the next SGA and also give us draft capital to replenish high-end talent. Pascal could've netted us Tyrese Haliburton last year, who is SGA-lite with less scoring, but much, much better floor general skills. We need a franchise point guard. Who is the next SGA or Haliburton to be available on the market?

I'd keep Scottie and OG. OG will still play hard on defense, even when he's trying to get his numbers.

        • i like pascal but most times he doesn’t play within the offence. i am fine with trading him or OG but i want a shooting guard back

          • I'd say everyone but OG and Scottie are on the table. Pascal nets us the best return, Fred and GTJ need to be paid by someone else. I'd like to keep Koloko as well. Precious can go if someone is really intrigued by him

Any trades we make should be about the assets coming back and have no concern for if it worsens our record this season. Our issues are largely roster construction so I think an addition by subtraction result is likely where we move guys and end up playing better.

This is a strong draft class so just grabbing some extra firsts would get us moving in the right direction.

It's certainly a possibility we could improve with just a minor move. Chemistry could improve or it could light a fire under who's left. But, they either need to work to get much better, or much worse.

                  • Raps rolled the dice trading for GTG. They hoped they were getting a shooting guard that was an impact player. I think they are still looking as the results from GTG have been mixed.

Its pretty long odds to believe that teams would trade their young high potential shooting guards at all or the price tag is steep.
Donovan Mitchel cost players AND 3 unprotected 1sts.
Gilgeous-Alexander would be in the same tier of cost.
Even the Knicks would demand similar value for RJ Barrett.
                    Thats the bad news.

The good news is that their seems to be a non stop supply of transcendant shooting guards in the draft.
Most go in the top 10.
More than a few go between 10 and 15.
Some even get traded like DeJounte Murray or Tyreese Haliburton.

Wonder which way Bobby and Masai want to go.

The "patience" with our guys public line and then a not so subtle foot off the gas for the remainder of the year and try to draft in the lottery with a chance to move up ?

Look to move Trent on a good contract for a pick or a prospect while not taking the foot off the gas in Barnes second year ?

Look to move one of Prescious or OG or ? if a another SG in the vein of Dejounte Murray or Tyreese Haliburton or Donovan Mitchell hits the market ?

Bribe Rich Paul to get one of Barrett or Gilgieous to demand a trade home for next to nothing in return ?

                    Wait ?

                    • Time to move on from Freddy, I wouldn't be surprised if the team plays irrationally better without him, just chemistry we're unaware of.
I think it would be lunacy to re-sign him for the deal that he'd want, it would guarantee more first round exit ceilings for years. Only then can we see if Flynn, Banton or Dowtin can blossum as a backup with regular minutes too.

Stockpile picks, draft well and Masai needs to go all-in to break the "Elite FA won't come here" BS.
Pascal, OG, Barnes, Achiuwa, maybe GTJr, some up and coming stud should want to play with these guys.

Time for a bold change and see if Masai/Webster still have b*lls. Some of the blame has to start landing at their feet.

                      • OKC like our beloved Raps is a team with a lot of players on it that could use a different roster construction.
Actual starting NBA vets to help with who they deem be their core.

They sport Chet Holmgren, Shai Alexander, Lu Dort, Josh Giddey and more draft choices that they can use.
We sport OG, Prescious, Siakam , Freddy .

                        • Yeah, I'd rather watch this team lose with Barnes getting 20-25 fga then what we are seeing now. I'm fine moving Fred, but even if we improve in his absence will there be a path to contention with the remaining roster? I could get behind them blowing it up I think, which feels absurd to say considering I thought this team could possibly crack the east top 4 before the season began. All I know is, they can't half-ass the next few months. Time to hammer out a plan and figure out how to execute it.

                          • If we're going to rebuild/retool, I'd like to see them go after draft picks or/and young players with potential. Number 1 player on my list is Shaedon Sharpe.

Too difficult to match Siakam's salary with anybody the Blazers would want to give up. The obvious trade match is: OG for Sharpe + Hart + picks. OG was already on Dame's wish-list in the off-season. They probably want OG even more now.... but they're comparing Sharpe to a young VC in Portland, so it would be hard to pry him loose for cheap.
