Re Lebron: it's worth pointing out that last year LeBron ranked 3rd in WP/48, just marginally behind Chris Paul and Andre Drummond.

Maybe the fact that LeBron is 37th (and Drummond is 70th or so) means he's not playing as well as last year?

In fact if you look at LeBron's stats over the years, you will see that he has been consistently a great performer according to WP, but he has only been transcendent superstar great in 5 seasons: his last two in Cleveland, and his last three in Miami. Before/between those years his performance dropped significantly: i.e., to Tim Duncan levels rather than LeBron levels.
It still doesn't really pass the sniff test.

Danny Green is 15/5/2/1.7/1.4 with 1.6 tos per 36 on 45/43/87 percentages.

LeBron is 25/4/7/1.3/0.8 with 3.8 tos per 36 on 49/37/74.

So better defensive stats and fewer turnovers on what works out to be a slightly higher ts% push Green ahead of a guy who shoulders a much bigger burden in terms of scoring and playmaking.

I mean, Rasual Butler is ahead of LeBron. There are so many anomalies it loses all credibility.

I do think LeBron is playing worse than last year, when he was at god-tier levels of efficiency. But that shouldn't put him behind the likes of Rasual Butler, given the numbers Butler is putting up. At some point there needs to be a reality check.

The BR story I linked is neither one of their crap slideshows nor a puff piece.

Don't have the mathematical expertise to truly understand the RPM methodology (plus the fact it's proprietary)and it does seem to have multiyear aspects, but the current season does seem to be heavily weighted.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

Well RPM was designed to pick up players overall worth, which is why Amir has been a Top 40 player in the NBA this year and last by that metric. Win Shares takes "team game" to an extreme. Carlos Boozer in no way helps a teams defence, but got 4.3 Defensive Win Shares last year by playing a lot with Noah, Butler, and the other Bulls who are plus defenders.

Also could you explain how eFG% helps defence?
the difference in eFG%, how well your team shoots - how the opponent shoots(defense).

Boozer and Amir would probably be the extremes in how players are rewarded BY team defense(Boozer) and how team defense is boosted by certain players(Amir).

What could Thibs do with a healthy Amir? That would be interesting

Ok - I guess you were taking about the Difference area for eFG%.

Thibs does have his own Amir, called Taj Gibson.

Here's another case for on/off splits shedding light in unexpected areas:

767 NBA two-man combos have played more than 250 minutes this season.
The James Johnson/ Tyler Hansbrough combo is #3 of 767 combos by DffRtg (93.3).
              They're #10 of 767 combos by NetRtg (+21).
They're #31 of 31 on the Raptors in mins.

/ Hansbrough combos shows up three times in the top 100 by DffRtg (with Lou and GV) and 4 times in the top 100 by NetRtg (with Lou, GV and Pattycakes)

At this point some combos have 1000 minutes together. TH + JJ is at ~270
